D1 intermittent ABS fault

Hi all,
Been searching for possible causes to my problem, but so far had little luck.
Most people seem to have their ABS light come on and stay on, mine doesn't do that.
My ABS light comes on intermittently, usually I will be braking to come to a stop and all of a sudden the ABS will start working, after pumping the brakes the car will actually stop and the light will come on.
The car will then keep the light on until this procedure happens again and then the light will go away.
The ABS doesn't do this everything I try to stop, just every now and then.

I ran a blink test and it said my Front Right sensor was the problem.
I've pulled the sensor out and checked the wiring under the bonnet and everything looks too be OK.
There seems to be a small amount of play in the wheel hub, would this play be enough to cause the ABS to play up?

My abs light used to do all sorts of weird things until I changed my rear discs. Taking the abs ring off and cleaning it and the actually sensor seems to have cured it. Maybe you need to do the same on your fronts?
