Is anyone Europe bound this summer?

I was in Ukraine for about a week. We drove from UK to Kiev then back to Lviv and down the Carpathian and crossed into Slovakia on the P53/74. We camped one night in the Carpathians. I think it was about 11 hours from Lviv to border. Lots of amazing places to stop, friendly villages and...

Is anyone Europe bound this summer?

Just had a look through your blog. Looks fantastic. I would recommend going through Ukraine to get from Slovakia to Poland. I drove that part of the Carpathians in 2011, absolutely amazing. The most remote I have ever been. Just make sure you have your route planned for the boarder officials...

Im driving back from Fort William to Lincoln with an empty trailer!

I'm doing a run from Lincoln to Fort William and back tomorrow through to Wednesday. Does anyone need anything shifting. Will have empty 3.5t 14' trailer on return journey but can't take anything on the way up. Taking the obvious route via a66 so anything along the way. Hope I'm not breaking...

Hose off pump just blew. any potential damage?

Evenin' Just fitted a new rad, filled up, no problems etc etc, took for 1 hour drive. All good. Got home, sat in car on phone and left it ticking over, next thing a load of steam.. I turned off straight away, laughed and opened the bonnet. Pipe had come off at the pump, basically failed...

    Driving to the Arctic Circle?

My personal situation with work being self employed obviously gives me some flexibility but still anything over a week, at least in the summer, is a struggle. I tend to just go for it and deal with the consequences later. I've missed deadlines and its cost me rep but I ultimately don't care. :D...

What to do with my Disco..

A joke that needs no explanation on a land rover forum :D Good idea, something I will consider. Diesel, I know what you are saying and I share your thoughts on buying another, though not those of the Defender ;) I am obviously on a bit of a downer about the vehicle, having not been able to...

What to do with my Disco..

I've got a 94 300tdi Disco. Bit of a read but would appreciate your thoughts. Recently it has been causing me quite a few issues. After a 5000 mile trip, then 3 weeks pulling a 2.5 tonne load around cambs (service in between and regular checks while in cambs) something gave up and plumes of...

Northern Europe Trip - Scandinavia via the Baltics

Northern Europe Trip - Scandinavia via the Baltics

Yeh, pretty cheap, though the price was reflected in her work. It was more of a promotion, I dunno. There were local stores with stalls there, charity stuff going on, a band... make no mistake, it was still a brothel open day :/ You know what the Dutch are like. I'll post some more pics later...

Northern Europe Trip - Scandinavia via the Baltics

It only cost €5.. you'd have to wash a lot of cars :D I would recommend allowing plenty of time for eastern Lithuania and Lativa. Labanoras Regional Park is very beautiful and plenty of really nice camping spots, some of the best are government provided, free are charge. The Latvian coast...

Drive/Move Vehicle without exaust& intake manifold

Yeh I had thought about noise, fumes into cab/intake. I can actually put the manifold back on with a filter, just no turbo, so it would just be the exhaust exposed. No harm in that I suppose. Looks like I may not have to do all this in the end anyway.

Drive/Move Vehicle without exaust& intake manifold

Engine is a 300tdi. I highly suspect the answer is no, but can anyone comment on whether it is ok to run the engine with no exhaust or intake manifold. I have had to take the turbo off to replace but urgently need to move the vehicle. Due to circumstance I cannot explain, the vehicle...

Thick white smoke with the smell of burning rubber. On a14

Haha, cheers. I'm working down here atm and camping on the job so got my gas cooker. Brews up. To add. After being sat here for the last 20 mins, there is already a good puddle of oil on the ground. Looks like a seal has gone. Hard to tell in low light but looks to be coming from gearbox/engine...

Thick white smoke with the smell of burning rubber. On a14

Evenin' all. Hope all is well. Edit. 300tdi disco I was just coming down the a14 when I started to smell burning rubber. Then I noticed white smoke pouring out my exhaust. I pulled over straight away. Any idea's what the problem could be? There was a lot of smoke. Temps normal, oil levels...

Northern Europe Trip - Scandinavia via the Baltics

Got back late last night. Unfortunately had to cut the trip short by a just under week for a couple of reasons which I will explain later. Been a fantastic 18 days though. The Baltics surpassed any expectations. Met some great people, but unfortunately did not see much of Norway, the ultimate...

Northern Europe Trip - Scandinavia via the Baltics

It's changed now, but I noticed the first street view images of Nordkapp were in winter, with quite a bit of snow about. I thought if a little street view car can make it, I doubt much prep is needed. At the same time, I can imagine conditiond vastly vary depending on time of year and...
