My previous posts have all been about preparing for a summer around Europe and turning my disco td5 into a camper, but finally we are traveling around Europe! We set off several weeks ago, and are currently on route to Venice but after that we are heading into Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia, hungry, Slovakia, Poland, Czech Republic, and Austria and then back towards home! This will be over the next 2 and a half months or so, take a look on the our blog for more details on preside locations but if anyone is around it would be great to finally meet some other English landrover enthusiasts!

Well all I can say is enjoy it whilst it lasts, once family work and kids come along then things like this get put on hold.

Oh and you are missing out some cracking bits of Poland, by the way.

one more thing if this is tom that is posting on LZ, well done lad!!!

Thanks! We have added Montenegro and Albania on the list too and we are currently parked next to a defender 130 on lake skadarsko in Albania :) [MAP][/MAP]

Looks like good fun mate!

I am planning something similar next year in the RRC so will keep an eye on your blog, I did Morocco in my defender but that feels overkill for Europe :)

You'd be surprised at the state of some of the roads! Albania isn't great to say the least!
It's beautiful though!

Just had a look through your blog. Looks fantastic.

I would recommend going through Ukraine to get from Slovakia to Poland. I drove that part of the Carpathians in 2011, absolutely amazing. The most remote I have ever been. Just make sure you have your route planned for the boarder officials. There are also several checkpoints in the mountains, usually manned by just 1 person, €5 should do the trick.

You've given us an idea there... how long did it take you? Did you stay in Ukraine or just drive through in one day? I've just looked at it on the map and I think it would be an amazing idea. Can you buy a green card at the boarder?
Ps. sorry for the late reply ben struggling to get good Internet anywhere!

I was in Ukraine for about a week. We drove from UK to Kiev then back to Lviv and down the Carpathian and crossed into Slovakia on the P53/74. We camped one night in the Carpathians. I think it was about 11 hours from Lviv to border. Lots of amazing places to stop, friendly villages and beautiful views; as well as some of the clearest night skies I have ever seen.

Green card... yeh, they didn't seem to bothered about that lol. But yes, I believe you can buy one there. Try and find a quiet crossing back into Poland. The main ones are stupid busy. Don't worry about not getting stamped on your way out, your back in the EU :D If the border crossing won't let you over, €10 should help them change their minds. Always haggle the bribe if they ask. Let them initiate the bribe, listen out for the word "protocol".

Have fun!

We are now adding Serbia on the route and maybe planning a short 1/2 day trip through Ukraine just because why not...! Though we shall not be going anywhere towards the Russian border due to current conflict! Ahhh

think you'll get hungry way before then

SWMBO, I and our much fettled Disco 1 are off for 3 weeks soon. Just get across the water and go where the fancy takes us. Decided on the Harwich-Hook route as I expect the beligerent French to kick off again once Europe's holiday season starts in August...

I'd like to go to the Balkans having not been there since I was very small and I've never seen the Black Sea.
