Optimill Door hinges and heated mirrors - how?

Too much :p Could you not run the wire inside the mirror arm then out underneath and through into the door? If you do it well you wouldn't see it unless you looked. Personally I'd drill them. Well personally I wouldn't buy heated mirrors we don't really get proper winters anymore not sure...

Disco 2 Anyone brought a new battery recently?

Damnit I already brought the other one for 25 quid more! Didn't see bulletbatt when I was searching :/ seems to be pretty much same rating too. Ah well those enduroline ones seem to have good feedback. Hopefully worth the extra dolla haha :p

Disco 2 Anyone brought a new battery recently?

Looked on Tanya batteries cheers for info they have one using the proper part number looks perfect fit. Most others in amp range were edge rarther than middle terminals and didn't look like cables would reach. https://www.tayna.co.uk/YGD100860-Enduroline-Battery-For-Land-Rover-P9073.html

Disco 2 Anyone brought a new battery recently?

Anyone know what dimensions are for d2 batteries? Can't find it on net! That or a recommendation for a decent one, the suggested ones seem a tad puny Cheers

    Once rusted twice shy?

No wonder you rarely see galvanised chassis discos compared to defenders way more expensive! Bet more work to swap too

    Once rusted twice shy?

So simple too none of this electrickery like newer ones. I was thinking of getting a series when I've finish the fender, only thing that puts me off is they look super uncomfy. And slow. But if you rebuilt it with a tdi problem solved I suppose. Minus still uncomfy :p

    Disco 2 Weird start

I had that with my old van! Had to keep a copper drift and a hammer in front cos it had a soft spot. It's not that it made an odd noise from that before I took the lil solenoid connector off and cleaned that not had it fail to start yet so who knows!

    Crimper needed

I can agree scotch locks are crap but for example I wouldn't use a plain crimp on a high draw circuit like glowplug. Taking it from work (work on leccy distribution network) all the old soldered stuff lasts farrrr better than new crimps. We use crimps galore for small stuff way easier too but I...

    Disco 2 Weird start

Checked starter it was fine, bastard to get at but couldn't be bothered to ramp it Made some longer leads for voltmeter dropping to 9V and resting 12. Alterator is giving it nearly 14 so should keep more than 12. Looks like new battery! Don't get why it wasn't even trying to turn over though...

    Crimper needed

I disagree I think crimps are good no doubt but a properly soldered joint will last longer. I've used them for years at work, and when we look at new shear off or crimped connections they don't have as long life as a welded or soldered joint. Not saying they're crap but not as permanent. Very...

    Crimper needed

The properly insulated crimps are alot better, better connection and you have mechanical protection where the plastic grabs the insulation to stop the pull being on the connection to the cable so much

    Crimper needed

Which can be argued constitutes a stronger and longer lasting joint. It's best with those ones that are open to crimp it abit and a blob of solder too I found they'e not the best connections

Wingtop Security - nice bit of kit

I was thinking rivnuts then stainless security bolts. Got millions of those m6 hexes with the pin in the middle from work they'd make a nice job. Be able to get in if I ever have to break into it myself if cable snaps or somet

    Crimper needed

http://www.altecautomotive.co.uk/professional-crimping-tool-for-uninsulated-terminals-bralttt71-868-p.asp Solder tho way better. Only reason I didn't for others was I had no easy accessable leccy

    Crimper needed

I agree with above solder them. You have an insulated crimp tool there I think. You can get uninsulated ones, I got one for the td5 warning light crimps which are similar and it wasn't very good. Wish I soldered like the rest, far more permanent

Wingtop Security - nice bit of kit

I'm getting one of these for mine since the tdci bulkhead uses the bonnet cable that splits and goes through wing well easy to nick if don't. How much did that one cost you? I was looking at the lockable one For you guys saying they can get in through the grill I used a peice of metal conduit...
