P38A What Happens When You Don't Use OAT Coolant

OAT is specified for the later V8's, particularly the 'Thor' engines. May not refer to earlier machinery. Peter

P38A What Happens When You Don't Use OAT Coolant

The trouble is that they rot from the inside, same as the block etc. The other pipe is 'soft', you can push a fingernail into it. Peter

P38A What Happens When You Don't Use OAT Coolant

Pictures of one of Philip's water pipes from his 4.0 V8 Thor engine. The damage was done before he bought it and he does run the correct coolant, but imagine what is happening inside the cooling system! Peter

    Disco 2 grease nipples/bellhousing

We have acquired a couple of spare D2 front props over the years, the centering bearing is available and so are regreasable U/J's. We buy the parts and then get the props rebuilt and balanced by an outside company. Peter

Insurance: We have the V8 Discovery with Flux, and that runs from April as a fully comprehensive two-driver car. To change to the Rangie they wanted £736.60, which I thought was a bit strong, the Disco was only £275.00 a year in the first place! Tried a few companies but decided to leave the...

    P38A W-Reg Vogue

We decided this morning that there had to be a gasket out of place or an injector pair crossed over, so we pulled the front upper manifold off to have a look. Once off, the left-hand rectangular gasket was found with marks on that suggested it had not been in position, and it was the left bank...

    P38A Dumping coolant

Looking at some of the DIN fastener tables, 18mm is in brackets as a non-preferred size, which is probably why we've never used it, but availability is OK. We don't actually use 16mm either, but we have a draw of them in the bolt rack! Peter

    P38A Dumping coolant

Seems to be available as you say, but our local fastener suppliers say it's a 'non-standard' range, they don't stock it and neither does our other supplier, but plenty on the web. Peter

Actually, our battery chargers are more of a hazard as we use fairly high energy firing pulses for the thyristor bridges, and advise operators with Pacemakers and Monitors to keep away from the electronics when the covers are off. Peter PS: Tried the new MAF and it made no difference.

Ordered a new battery negative cable this morning, the existing one has been bodged somewhat. Also ordered a touch-up paint stick and some more anchor cable ties to fix down the wiring round the driver's side of the engine. Medical stuff is intervening, I have to go in for a surgical implant...

    My RRP38 History/Origions

Microcat was issued monthly to dealers, and as new models came in, data were deleted on the older models. Mine is MY2000 and has a full listing of build date, build details, colour, etc etc. If you could find an earlier Microcat disc (mine is Oct 2006) you'll probably find those details on...

    My RRP38 History/Origions

Nothing in Microcat, while mine has pages of build data, yours has almost nothing. Check the VIN, ends in 361737. Peter
