    key locked in p38 4.6hse

If there's a good battery, and the bonnet is open, I seem to remember that in LRM Magazine "A Country Garage" or whatever it was called, Mike Manifold described the process of whacking the inertia switch, which was mentioned as a way to open the doors? Peter

Our new key should be Key3, just waiting for it now. Had the choice at the time of ordering. Peter

To LPG or to not LPG

If the cooling system is up to scratch and you use a good quality oil, then any engine in good nick is a candidate. We have two D2 V8's on gas in the family, both have been reliable, both covered high mileages on gas. My latest car, a 4.6 Rangie Vogue is on petrol, and not really enough space...

Yep, but it's at home, I'll have a look tonight. I think the Chrome button was on the Vogues? Peter

    P38A Rave

I use Classic Shell with 8.1, almost back to an XP screen layout. There's still Linux to fall back on, but I'm not a big fan. Peter

    P38A Rave

I use 8.1 at work and generally have no problems with it, even with legacy stuff like RAVE. Windows is going to a fee-based licence system, watch out for it. Peter

    P38A Rave

I'm on XP Pro at home, with two 8.1 PC's and a Windows 2000 PC running, steered well clear of Windows 10, nasty bit of work. Peter

    Snow tyres

We've used standard Nexen Roadian A/T for 6-7 years, and they have been good in mid England snow levels. Vredestein are a good brand, Dutch I believe, and they produce a lot of tyres used on European military vehicles. Just a question of picking the right one. Peter

What bushes do I need? Castro corrected radius arms

Although poly bushes are easier to fit, I personally prefer the standard ones, although if you haven't got a big bolt and nut etc to pull then in and out, or a press, they can be sods to fit. Peter

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Had half an hour spare so fitted a new surround/seal to the lower tailgate push button on my Vogue. Not a big job, the old one was perished and leaking water into the shell of the tailgate. ALR5252 - couple of quid or so. Peter

    D2 towing MPG

For comparison, our D2 V8 does 24 or so on a run, our P38 Vogue 4.6 has just done Rosyth and back, 3-up with heavy tools and luggage, averaged 20mpg according to the trip computer. Towing the big trailer at 3500kgs we get 10-12mpg with the Discovery, haven't been out with it on the P38 yet. Peter

+1 on doing both heads, and buy a decent gasket set. I posted a link recently for Victor Reinz sets for the V8: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/361910104006 Peter

Disco 2 Very tempted by a D2 v8 near me

We've just done Northampton to Edingburgh, 4.6 Range Rover P38, three up with luggage and tools, averaged 22mpg on mixed A roads and dual-carriageways, runing at 70mph when possible. That's not too bad at all, and on Petrol, not LPG. Back home today, be interesting to see what it does on the...

Disco 2 Very tempted by a D2 v8 near me

OAT is pink/orange when diluted. LPG on two of ours, both are Zavoli multi-point systems, one already on mine when I got it, Philip's one we did ourselves. No big issues, oil and coolant need keeping an eye on, like daily, but they have both been pretty good on LPG, especially towing our big...

Disco 2 Very tempted by a D2 v8 near me

V8's are not the money pit they are made out to be. Driven sensibly they are not bad at all, but I wouldn't use one for daily town driving, that would be expensive. We've got three D2 V8's in the family plus a 2000 P38 Vogue. Mine is up to 189K miles, my spare one is at 63K and waiting to be...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Back onto the subject.... Got the bumper off the Vogue at last, took a bit of thumping to get to release from the chassis mounts, but after that it came off OK. Fitted the refurbed towbar (Witter) and going to do the electrics this morning, then refit the bumper. Scotland run tomorrow :) Peter
