I like to keep it simple but as you say the 200 or 300 tdi is not going to give you what you want. There are still some very nice D2s but you have to search for them. I wouldn't want anything more complex than the D2 Td5 I have because I like the fact that I can fix anything relatively quickly...

Well to be honest I do all my own work but people I know have had their 4x4 serviced there and had no issues. I use them for parts and occasional advice and couldn't fault them in that regard.

What about when we all move to E10 fuel. Apparently they have E85 in europe too. These old cars are going to need some sorting or special fuel.

Yeah but I suppose we all miss the old Tdi, especially the 200 because that was so so bullet proof a motor. Td5 is a nicer motor when its right but the 200 never missed a beat

The TD5 at 4500Euro looks like it has no sunroof. This is a major plus and should ensure no rust in door pillars, etc. Looks an honest car and decent colour. Price is still a little steep though. Depends what you buy a big 4x4 for. I like things as simple as possible and the D2 is as techy as i'm prepared to go. Easy to fix and maintain and the road tax is reasonable if you have an early one like I do.

Prefer a D2 though, every time.

Often split motorcycle calipers during restoration. Seals are usually only small O rings recessed into the face of one half and over the fluid drillings joing each half (if you have opposed pistons). Specific brake fluid resistent O rings can be obtained easily but you must use only those that are.
