What is your method for restoring nuts and bolts to be re-used? Do you just wire brush them or do you soak and wash them in anything?

Re-using old bolts!!!
I'd use new ones.
If they are non critical I suppose i'd soak them and clean them on the wire wheel of the bench grinder.

Use new every time saves money and time on trying to refurbish and you can replace with better quality

Soak in vinegar for a couple of days then wash and dry wire brush and spray with WD40 is what i'm doing for Rover P6 nuts and bolts at the moment...

Are you sure you cant source from a fastener specialist or a genuine landrover part supplier, during my refurb on my 1996 90 defender I've managed to source better quality fasteners (inc high tensile) for a reasonable cost

My supplier list for fasteners (not associated in any way) is
Kays fasteners (ebay)
BritCar
Bolt world
YRM

Out of interest what size bolts would you stock up on? X50 M8 and x50 M10? Then cut them down to whatever size you need?

Do it for free with an old phone charger and water. You may have to run the gauntlet of pinching a spoon full of baking soda off the Mrs.

I’d better explain.
Take an old phone charger and cut the socket off. Expose the two wires about 30 mm then with the power on dunk them in a glass of water. After a few seconds the negative wire will start to bubble. This one goes on your nut/bolt. The other wire goes on a scrap piece of mild steel. Stick em in water with a spoon full of soda or salt and switch on for an hour or so. Wire brush them.
