Fecking hate sunroofs, never understood why anyone would want one in the first place.
Maybe a fixed glass with a retractable visor below, possibly, but an opening window on yer roof, hell no thats stupid and unnecessary !!!
Wear of seal over time but for the cost why just replace the seal.
I did my 110 seals and flanges and it was cured fron leaking for the entire time I owned it.
You seem quite certain its the diff but the front axle also has UJs at each end, all contributing to back lash.
If its that big an issue you may need to do a proper overhaul.
Surely its not an MOT issue.
I've driven with a prop off before, but only because of a prop UJ failure and only for a few...
Hell that's a lot of money and they are crap anyway, mine distorted the door steel and the hinge stops bent and cracked too.
Old leather belt and some ss rivets to hold it on - sorted.
Either that or fabricate a repair for the existing one.
Hell it could be anything; input shaft bearings, spigot bush, idler gears in gearbox ++
If its developed and you haven't just put a new clutch in then it is more than likely gearbox, but whether its of any real concern is anyones guess.
Jamesmartin suggestion is probably a good starting point.
Not done it myself yet but i'm guessing you'll need to support the door very well and my idea for this was to use a workmate bench with a garage jack, or simply chock it off the bench, and a timber block slotted along its centre line to take the bottom seam of the door. Even so i'm pretty...
Agree.
D2 is a decent car and just simple enough to keep on top of without too much expense.
Not had a V8 one so not certain of any motor issues but if motor good then chassis, especially rear, is important.
I prefer no sunroof if you can find one and the rest is cosmetic or minor really.
Not had similar experiences but it is the exact thing we all dread.
The seller here could have done more to help and morally if I were the seller then I would do what I could to get some clarity on exactly where the parcel was allegedly left.
Unfortunately e-bay also has unscupulous buyers and...
I do wish i had concentrated more in chemistry in school.
There is a need for some chemical theory here or this has no plausability.
Something to do with polymerisation but we need the full chemical theory and details.
OK to close this thread down I can now report that I have fixed it and it sits level.
I have been measuring from the spring seat to the isolator on all four corners.
When I corrected the worst measurement on the rear the front corrected itself. I did this by jacking between the axle and chassis...
I remember the initial naivety of my first Disco 2 purchase, quickly shattered by the full realisation of what I had got myself into.
Worth the effort though!
I think I've done all the important things and some not so important and I do enjoy my Disco 2 now.
Great car.
Spent the day taking the sump off the D2 to check the oil pump bolt and sort a sump gasket leak.
The D2 is a 1998 with low mileage but because I had no knowledge of whether the pump bolt had been lock threaded I needed to check.
When I eventually got at it, it was still tight but I removed it...
That doesn't sound good for a head gasket replacement, it sounds like a good reason to change the head gasket.
Who did the work?
Are all the dowels in place?
I assume Stanleysteamer is pointing toward the expansion tank cap because you are saying it's pressurising and only releasing when the...
