I took the drink/coin/ashtray holder out to see what was wrong the coin holder part, soon found the problem, broken lug for holding the spring in place (see picture), £150 for a new one or about £50 s/h. So whilst supping an ale I had a light bulb moment for a repair, drill 4mm hole all the way through to tighten the screw holding a speed nut/ clip (see pictures). Works a treat, if any else needs a cheap fix for theirs......:D

My problem with coin trays, drinks holders etc is the funny little black or grey lug affair that does the locked-when-shut then open-with-a-push business.
I have yet to glue it with 2 pack epoxy, but other glues and even heat haven't worked.
The good news is they are all the same so i have made the "doesn't work" one the ashtray, which I don't use anyway. But you still need good fingernails to pull it open!

Yeah as a non smoker I would prefer the coin holder to work that's why I decided to take a quick look at what was wrong. As you've found most glues won't hold on that type of plastic(in my case the bits were long gone anyway) & as there's not much room for big repairs to cater for a tough spring that was what the old grey matter come up with!
