    FL1 FBH?

    If you have a PTC, a) you won’t find a FBH and b) you should be able to tell if it’s there: Start a cold engine and put the blower on 1. As you move the temp control either side of 12 o’clock you should hear it click in and out, and the engine note change as it gets loaded and unloaded.

    Wow, then mine really is rough - say one cyl was 744, then I have a range of about 735-751. Mine was nowhere near that. It does have the EGR, but the injectors I took out looked reasonably clean.

    If it’s out of warranty you’re in the complex realm of ‘fit for purpose’ and suchlike. Then they can come back with ‘was it fitted by a qualified mechanical engineer?’ and other weaselling. If you’re not planning on that route, get a pipe cutter/hacksaw and open it up. Piccies would be nice!

    Specific cylinder misfire? I’d have a go at swapping HT leads, then injectors to see which one the misfire follows. Did the mechanic watch fuel pressures, sensor values, etc?

    Not that I know of. Doubtful it’ll fail quicker than running it with a stiff VCU. Have a look at this: https://www.landyzone.co.uk/land-rover/tests-new-freelander-1-owners-should-do-on-their-car.312863/ Too many Freelanders are run with different makes of tyres, and uneven pressures.
