So fitted an All Makes LP pump 5 k miles ago to try to eliminate a cutting out at 4k revs problem. It didn't solve the problem, see my other thread on this, but I left it fitted. Today turned on key, no buzz and no start. Tapped pump with my best panel beating hammer and presto. Ran for 2 mins then failed again. It has done 5,000 miles since fitting new. Shocking.....

I had this sort of thing happen as well. The commutator segments fall off. Rule of thumb - the LP pump should cost £130, not £30!

Warranty claim?

Ok you've got me defeated, what's an LP pump? Low pressure pump?

Low pressure pump in wheel arch.

So revisiting this now that all is working. At the moment anyway!! Have contacted JGS 4x4 to ask for comments on the failure. I understand it was a low cost pump and fully support the Pierburg route but it is not fit for purpose at any price!! Watch this space for reply.

Not looking good so far. Standard 'over a year' response. No interest yet in finding out why it failed so quickly. I have invited them to do so.

If it’s out of warranty you’re in the complex realm of ‘fit for purpose’ and suchlike. Then they can come back with ‘was it fitted by a qualified mechanical engineer?’ and other weaselling.

If you’re not planning on that route, get a pipe cutter/hacksaw and open it up. Piccies would be nice!

No reply after inviting JGS if they would like to try to investigate these not fit for purpose pumps. Let's try and stamp on the poor quality items. Cheap yes, but also completely useless. I have reminded JGS that LandyZone are awaiting a reply!!!

JGS will just be a reseller of parts. The best they could offer is not to sell that brand of part in the future. Sometime sellers won't do anything unless they see multiple failures. They could have sold 150 and only had one fail. If its out of warranty they wont be able to claim back from their supplier. Harsh on the buyer after a short distance.

Is it marked with a brand like HippoLP?

Marked only 14331 and the All Makes box has LR023043 which I guess is the part no. JGS, as you say, cannot help due to warrentee time being up. I am going to take this up with All Makes as they claim same quality as OE. If necessary I will open it up but will speak to them first. If any one else has an All Makes boxed pump that has failed please can you identify the markings on the pump and let me know. Poor quality pumps keep coming up on this site and I, like others, are keen to remove them from the market.

I've found the All Makes products are of questionable quality. I've had ball joint boots fail in a few months, on drop links and wishbones. :(
