    Thanks for the advice, heated it up a wee bit then using a pair of mole grips gripped the filler plug and with some force it finally came undone. New oil now in the gear box old filler plug in place but not tightened up, just waiting on new plug hopefully arrive Saturday morning .

    yup no resistance what so ever. Not tried doing anything with the bell housing as not sure whats wrong thats why asked on here. If gears are working ok why do you suggest a new slave cylinder?

    It would not budge, put a length of pipe on the ratchet and stripped it a bit. We can still get the torx bit to go in and hold but the filler plug will not budge.

    there is no bleed screw at the master cylinder and the manual only points at bleeding air out of the slave cylinder if there is air in the system

    No I did not understand his idea of removing the drain plug either but its done move on as they say. T55 Torx bit is the tool to undo the filler plug but it just wont budge

    We took the bleed nipple right out and checked it was not blocked there. I know nothing about bleeding the system my mate never mentioned bleeding the master but now you've said it it kinda makes sense

    Update on the gear change situation. Silly me was looking at the wrong clutch fluid reservoir, the correct one had only a small amount of fluid at the bottom of it. Now with help I topped it up then my mate tried to bleed air out the system by releasing the bleed nipple on the slave cylinder...
