Leak off/spill/return pipes connect each injector to each other and in some cases return fuel to filter...just done mine on the van very small bore and just a push fit but if they leak lets air in and fuel drains back and starting takes a lot of cranking...

If youv'e got melted wires could be a voltage bypass before ign switch...

Thats why I said there is a more complicated way to do it for a modern car it's an easy way to do it with a cheap diy dmm...if it sparks when you touch neg to post does that show a drain?

If you want to check for parasitic drain set your dmm to 10a plug red probe into amp socket remove negative lead attach red probe to negative cable and black probe to negative terminal it should read zero with ignition off...if it is a complicated ecu digital car there is a bit more complicated...

If it's a red top that is a facet pump rated for competion use rated for engines over 200 BHP...they do not have a pressure regulation they just pump...you need a silver top that pumps at 4.5psi with a return to the tank...I take it that the engine is retrofit to a petrol non V8 tank...strip...

The electric pump on my 101 V8 runs constantly there is no cut off thats why there is a return to tank as it's to stop fuel heating up as well...your problem is either in the carbs or return pipe blocked...

We have bendy plastic pipe here that takes compression joints it's bloody great holds 3 bar pressure from pump...its also the same diameter as ford heater/thermostat pipe...lol...
