What have you done to your Landie today.

Discovered oil in the wiring loom. Not really surprised. Going to have to replace the injector harness I guess. Whats a good solvent for cleaning the ECU plug?

    Rear cross member surface rust

Thats good. I'll just use my pressure washer. I'll try not to take to much paint off in the process. Cheers. Are there any other nooks and crannys on the chassis that need extra special care, that I might miss?

    Rear cross member surface rust

I'm trying to clean out the inside of the chassis, mainly the cross member. I've sprayed water into some of the various holes and no end of crud has been coming out. Shall I just keep doing this till the water runs clear? Or should I try and steam clean it? If so do you reckon I can just attach...

    Door rust

I reckon I am going to need to weld some new bottoms on my doors. I'll need to get hold of a welder. Found a few cheap arc welders on eBay. Clarke weld mostly. Are these any good for a cheap DIY welder? Worked out that where the water is coming through is the windscreen bracket. Obvious name...

    Door rust

Cheers disco, been reading your thread and thought it was brilliant. It must be good o finish a project like that. I hope that I haven't got much to do. Just some new door bottoms, but I do quite fancy the idea of having the doors galvanised. If I did, I'd probably get both done. Seems daft...

    Door rust

So I discovered today that I have rust all the way along the bottom of the drivers side door. Before I started wire brushing I had know idea how bad it was. It looks like I'm going to have to take the seal of the bottom of the door, which isn't too bad as it old do with being replaced. Also...

What have you done to your Landie today.

Went to treat a what I thought was a small spot of rust on the bottom of the drivers side door. After taking the internal panel off and a lot of wire brushing, discovered runs the length of the door and is a lot worse than I thought. Quick job might be a big job. M

    Checking Gear box oil

I think the idea is that by changing half the oil at a time, it dilutes any old oil that is lingering at the bottom. So you actually get a better oil change. As I said, I read it somewhere. I can't remember where though, or I'd post the link. I'll see if I can find it.

    Checking Gear box oil

Hello everyone, I'm wondering what is the best or easiest way of checking the level of oil in a Td5 defender gear box. Also is it easy to top up/change. I've read that when you are changing it, you should do half then drive 500ish miles before doing the other half. Is this right. Any advice...
