    my 3.5 v8 (with carbs) has been back firing alot on start up, and not just little pop's, sometimes it sounds like a shotgun going off. everytime it does this the performance seems to change too, as in sometimes i cant put my foot down in 3rd and 4th. any helpful input would be appreciated guys

    have your contact points checked in your distributor too, mine went slack so every time i buried my foot my engine would splutter all over the shop, had to drive round only accelerating gradually to stop it. the replacement part only cost like £7

    Well they showed the new Land rover Dc100 today, which has been confirmed as the replacement for the Defender in 2015. Looks pretty but it does not look like the old work horse you'd expect from a defender. what do you guys think?

    best to have a look around the distributor and coil with lack of rev's. my 3.5 v8 was failing to rev properly which turned out to be lazy contact breaker in the distributor, £5 later and i was sorted

    ok guys, 3.5 v8 has 2 sender units on the engine, the water temp sender sticks out of the front of the block. there's a 2nd one on the top, is it an oil temp/pressure sender or something else. any help appreciated guys
