V8 LPG Disco dying for no apparent reason

She is a 96 3.9. Interesting about the rubber band theory. When I first got it it backfired on quite a few occasions. She hasn't run out of LPG but she does get low. I will have a look for this rubber band

V8 LPG Disco dying for no apparent reason

My Disco has started messing me about. I have been using it happily since getting it back having sorted out the leaking timing cover gasket. It has a new starter motor and battery. I had been to the cinema with the family. We had driven there OK and had been sat for a couple of hours. I started...

    Timing cover thingy part 2

I am doing the timing cover gasket and am putting it all back together. I managed to shear a bolt as I did it. Luckily it sheared out of the block and in the timing cover itself. I went to get a new one and was quoted £40.00 for a pack of 5. Apparently they only come as a pack of 5. Any one else...

    Undoing the timing pulley thingy

did it using a couple of mole grips on the pulley that wedged on the pointer from the block. Had to take the sump off in the end ( Not able to drop it as Haynes reckons you could). Now to put it back together. Chain OK, so leaving it alone. Ta for the advice

    Undoing the timing pulley thingy

I have an auto v8 disco that I am slowly replacing the timing cover gasket. I am about to undo the timing pulley wheel and was wondering if anyone with a bit more experience had any tips? Tricks etc. I know I could take the starter motor off etc but as I am already at a snails pace I don't...

    disco v8 auto lpg

I've got a similar one and mine doesn't run that smoothly on the gas either. Its OK but not brill. Its I think due to setting the timing etc to one that effects the other I was told. I find mine also has a bit of a flat spot at 3000 revs which I havn't been able to get rid off properly. Don't...

    Another Hot V8

I had similar probs with mine and found eventually the timing cover was leaking. It initially was very slight but enough to loose water over time. Eventually it went completely. Don't know if it helps, thought I would mention

    Timing Cover Gasket

Not yet. Been fitting it around the kids, wife, dogs, and work. As I said earlier bit of a novice so i am very slow. Just about to take the pulley off, but havn't got the right size socket. Fortunately I have a very patient neighbour who seems to have everything you might ever need. Stressing...

    Timing Cover Gasket

Finally getting round to doing this after the "Another one overheating" saga. Can anyone tell me ,as I am a bit of a novice on this, should I use a gasket sealer when changing the old one for the new. I have got the waterpump off , drained all the oil and removed the filter, ready to drop the...
