I'm in the process of doing this myself...lots of wire brushing! A good coating of kurust and then just brushing on hammerite waxoyl. Can imagine paying someone else to do it properly will be a costly job!

water leak, heater matrix, steamy windows

Hi rickymac, If the heater matrix o-rings are gone you should definately be able to smell the coolant inside, as well as seeing a drop in coolant level. Check both the air con drain plugs and the sunroof drain plugs...air con drain is either side of gearbox bellhousing and the sunroof drains...

    Petrol fuel pump change

The connections are just compression fit...the nuts go onto the fuel pump pipe stubs first, the olives go on after (might be worth heating the olives up as they can be a tight fit). The flow and return pipes simply push on to fuel pump and you tighten the nuts over the olives onto the threaded...

    Petrol fuel pump change

Changed the fuel pump on mine a while back, looks a similar state to the how mine was. I dropped the whole tank to avoid damaging the pipes, came out easy enough but was a PITA to reconnect the large filler flexi hose. When I undid the pump connections the pipes just sheared clean off due to...

    fuel pressure regulator correct operation?

Hi Zen, Fuel pressure should remain even with engine off, fuel system on the P38 is depressurised by disconnecting the fuel filter (according to RAVE and that's how I do it) though you still get a good spray of petrol.

    running issue 4.6

On the GEMS you can get access to the MAF sensor by cutting the rivets off the housing then it just slides out, clean it with some isopropyl alcohol. Don't know about the THOR though!

    Faded Front Grill

I think it's one of those things that is more popular in the states maybe. It keeps that plastic shine which might be hard to make look natural with paint.

    Faded Front Grill

Here's a better pic: Don't know if there any image size limits on here, hopefully not too big! The pic on the right is taken about two months after using the dye.

    chrome lettering

Trying to remember the name of the show...two guys buy a car and fix it up for profit, they did a P38 a while back and showed pretty well how to apply the lettering. They did the front lettering, but I'm sure same applies to rear. The letters are already spaced out on the tape, you just have to...

    Faded Front Grill

Probably about two months ago now I did mine, still looking good...would probably look better if I washed it a bit more often! :) Seems to be fairly water and chemical resistant, will try and get a more recent closer pic for ya later.

    Faded Front Grill

Got mine from fleabay after reading some reviews for it. Really impressred with the results, just apply several thin coats...and use your own sponge cut to shape, the old shoe polish type applicator it comes with isn't much cop.
