Morning all!

Am going to replace the air springs on my P38-I'm buying Arnotts.

Any recommendations on specialists in South wales to fit them?

Have you not thought about doing it yourself? Having just changed 4 air springs on my p38 in about 3 hours and saving myself about £175 fitting I would give it a thought! It was a little fiddly but was happy with the results! Plenty of how to guides over the net!

If you do not fancy DIY....( it's quite straightforward with the right approach )...try an excellent independent landy specialist: Lewis 4X4 , Neath.
Very professional and very reasonable in my experience!

Go on, do it yourself. It's dead easy and very satisfying.

I haven't got a problem with the springs-it's just that they are nearly 10 years old and the ride is not what it used to be.
I have the cable-I bought it a few years ago from the bloke in the states.

Done the front springs on mine a week ago, easy job...just make sure you inflate the airbaigs before you drop the chassis.

I live near Swansea so if ur anywhere nearby and need a hand drop me a pm!
 
have a go yourself
first time i tryed it took about an hour and half (front drivers) second time i tryed (front passenger)took about 25mins (after i got the wheel off which had sezed on )
 
Go for it M8, its easy as pie. 2 Jacks is best, have a spare R clip incase it breaks, just cut airline if stuck and inflate bags before lowering body.

Job done

Stealer fees avoided.

Don't cut the airlines, they will be too short. There is also a small raised section which can prevent full insertion if the line is cut. 2 jacks are essential IMO.

Fully agree about not cutting the pipe! Not sure about the 2 jacks comment as when I did mine I only used 1 ! I suppose it may be easier with 2 jacks but not impossible with only 1 imo

Just one more question!

Is it ok not to depressurise the system? i.e wear face protection whilst releasing the pipe.

Still waiting for a reply from Island 4x4-they don't seem to have Arnotts in stock at the moment.

Bad idea-also you will most likely not get pipe fitting to release

Access mode,
I just had eka code and disconnected battery and

supported chassis with axle stands and supported axle.

then I undid the air tank bung and let it slowly out while watching chassis didn't creep as air came out

Absolutely no need to depressurise the system (should have followed the guide I offered) Gloves and goggles and pop one pipe at a time, very easy to do, just push the pipe and collet back and the pipe will often pop out on it's own but may need a tug. Re-inflate each corner after you have replaced the air bag. Much less strain on the compressor if you do it that way as the air tank remains full.:D
As you have a serious leak and it's on the bump stops, there is not likely to be much pressure in the airbags in any case.

P38 Spares Ebay shop is usually the best place for Arnotts, I've had good service from them and they were the best price when I got mine.:D
