So i eventually did it and painstakeingly did my measurements and set it all up perfectly - or so i thought. i then went for a test drive and it drove like sack of spanners like it boat on hard water! i can assure you i stuck to the guidance, had no faults on completion etc.

So again i'm back to the settings i had, which although relatively comfortable is not at the measurements i had set or that it should be. e.g. standard at 490mm

Maybe i should leave it alone :confused:

Are there any template values i can try or is every car different??
 
Yes, it can be a pain in the arse....either set it in 10 minutes or two hours if it decides to act the bollix!!!

Somewhere on here are the settings which applies to all P38's irregardless of wheel sizes as they are from the wheel arch to the wheel centre. Check my list of posts and you should find it.

I am having the first BBQ in weeks as it's the first decent day for around 6 weeks. I've had the vino and now I'm on the Brandy so I don't trust myself with giving you dimensions off the top of my head !!!!
 
As a guide the following bit count range applies to the P38:

Std. Front 95-150 Rear 85-130

Access Front 50-110 Rear 50-100

High Front 120-130 Rear 105-150


MY p38 has the following settings **

Std, Front l.h. 115 Front rh 124 Rear lh 96 rh 109

Access Front both sides 80 Rear both sides 75

High Front both sides 148 Rear both sides 129

***These values can vary due to the discrepancy in the height sensor resistance variation/tolerance.

The chances that two P38s have exactly the same bit counts is a little remote. Set it to the standard settings for each mode. As measured frorm centre of wheel. Don't sit in the car as you change things. You will never get it right. Do everything from outside vehicle.

Level ground is the key mate. Perfection maybe difficult you are looking for +- 7mm, with across axle beat rate difference of no more than +- two clicks side to side according to Land Rover. Land Rover drop the suspension onto pre sized blocks take readings and input them. And leave it at that. If you are trying to get everything exact it may not be possible.
 
slight thread hijack here while EAS numbers are floating around...Does anyone have the bit count range figures for the grounded/workshop highest setting?

Quite right and if you cycle the heights after getting them exact it will never come back to exactly the same height, should always be within the +- 7mm though:)

Yep that's about it. How are you today Keith? Weather brilliant here today. Was very hot yesterday even the rain was warm. Got my very old McCulloch chainsaw out the other day, no spark. So stripped it, cleaned the points reassembled and it started third pull on five year old petrol. Same cannot be said of my five year old McCulloch brush cutter that won't spark at all and needs a new £55.20 coil pack. Progress is not always good it would seem.:):):)
 
Level ground is harder to find than i thought, ended up doing it on the very slightest of inclines, maybe Tesco car park will be better.

I did experience what you are saying there though when cycling the heights and it not coming back to where it had been set. Will have another attempt soon as.

I don't have the extended height counts but the height should be Std. + 65-70mm.

Like the Low (Motorway) profile, the extended height is automatically calculated by the EAS ecu. as a fixed value from Standard.

Hi Tony, too bloody hot to work it's 35C, it's like I'm back in Africa!
You sure it's the coil pack? I only say that because I've had a run of duff spark plugs on garden machines giving no spark:):):)

Yeah have a duff plug, but the plug that runs the chainsaw won't run the brushcutter spark to weak. Will give machine a clean up and see what i get. Also looked around net for a new plug. Garden centres want up to £7.25 for a less than £2.00 plug. No wonder this country is fooked. Some people are taking the **** big time.:mad::mad::mad:

Yep Land Rover use two sets of blocks. Access and Standard. Vehicle dropped onto them bits read and entered. Block sizes are somewhere on here. Did have them but computer crashed and i lost everything. Just finished my course of antibiotics so may try regressive drunkeness tonight and see if i remember them. Don't hold your breath though. :D:D:D

Plugs for my McCulloch €2.75 a pop from the village mower repair shop. Weak spark was what I got, new plug and started straight away.:D:D:D

Sorted spark, bit of a clean up all is well. Run out of fuel now and i can't be arsed going for any. Rangie needs a drink, so may go tomorrow and double it's value by filling it up. Petrol for brushcutter at same time. Yeah i know how much plugs should be £2.05 lowest i've seen on net but some wanted £7.25 for same thing bloody ripoff merchants. Will nip to factors tomorrow and get a box of them for a tenner. Against my advice lad went to Halfrauds yesterday. Battery died on his wifes diesel Megan and she was desperate, which she remained on his return. Came back muttering "If they think i'm paying £125.00 for a bloody battery they can go and fook themselves" Etc, Etc, expleatives, repeated several times. Got a VARTA from my supplier today £50 + vat. It really is about time people started boycotting these bloody places ripping people off for fun.
