P38 engine problems and I don't know where to turn

Looks like a bit of a mess, I'd not be going back there at any rate. Your P38 might be different from mine, so see what others say...but it looks to me like the block under the plenum is on the wrong way round (there are lugs to stop this happening though?) In the first pic the left most black...

    Loose crankshaft sensor housing

Hi folks, Hoping someone can answer a quick easy question for me. Doing a bit of work on the range and I noticed the sensor in the flywheel housing on my GEMS P38 is loose...the whole mounting (circular cylinder) moves back and forth by about 5-6mm even though the sensor mounting bolts seem...

    Window Tints

Still not going to stop you getting pulled by the rozzers! Tinted vehicle windows - the rules : Directgov - Motoring Think this is what I read before about any additional tint on the front windows on top of the standard level of tint easily putting it over the legal limit. Tinted front...

    Window Tints

I thought pretty much any tint on the front side windows (apart from the standard maufacturers glass tint) was illegal now.

Please help various issues! mainly cant get into car!

The passenger handle wouldn't have had a keyhole to start with, but there should be one on the drivers handle unless that was removed as well. I'm sure I read a post about someone using a long length of stiff wire fed from under the rad up to the bonnet catch to release the mechanism...I might...

The beast is back...well nearly, kinda, sorta! :)

Hey folks, Just thought I'd put a quick post up. After nearly 8 months of sitting at the back of my drive I've finally got time to get my P38 back on the road and in good running order...fingers crossed! :D Replaced the rear brake lines and all seems good, still dealing with some engine...

    High beam stalk operation

Maybe driving etiquette wasn't foremost in the designers thoughts! :p But yeah, just giving a quick flash isn't as straightforward as it should be...unless I'm missing something too!

Warning messages - windows not set etc

hi rtz, Welcome to the forum. Easy enough to do, just go through each window in turn winding down, hold the down button for few secs at the bottom (window fully open) and rock back to the up position in one movement and hold until the window is all the way back up (closed). You should get...

sake of something to do other than cry

Gutted to hear about the fire, like others have said at least you and the missus were ok. Was in machine mart earlier and saw fire extinguishers for £15, reckon I'll dive back in there and pick one up! :) Slight hijack but on a similar line...I've notice my heat shielding is all but worn away in...

    P38 V8 Sump Gasket?

Can't help ya with the aluminium sump, but putting the hylosil/hylomar beading around the old sump was an easy enough job (still need to replace my crank pulley oil seal though). Only suggestion I'd make is to jack the sump lightly into place to stop it sliding around while you tighten the bolts.

    More damn problems...brakes this time

It's a P38, any advice on the job and tools needed will be greatly appreciated. The brake lines seem solid up to the wheel arch where they turn up. Any suggestions for a good source for the lines and unions would be great too. Cheers guys.

    More damn problems...brakes this time

Still working through the buckaroo issue but had a small disaster with a ruptured brake line. Rear brake line has blown running along the chassis crossmember above the rear drivers side airbag. Gonna need to start replacing the brake lines but that section is a real PITA to get to, any...

    Stumbling V8!

It could be mechanical, just didn't think it was very likely because it's been quite random...though it's bucking most of the time now. It does it in all gears and stalls in neutral too so didn't think it was a gearbox issue...any other ideas to help isolate the fault? Had a bit of a disaster...
