    AT tyres

I have just fitted some Nankook Dynapro ATM's to my Freelander. They were not a bad price and the tread looks far more aggresive than the Kumho AT's previously fitted. Has anyone else got these tyres and if so what is your opinion of them.

Do you regret buying a Freelander?

No regrets. I have a leaky heater matrix at the moment which is a bit of a bummer but I have ordered some K Seal to try. If it works I will be well chuffed. I managed to pull a tonne and a half of firewood out of steep muddy woods last weekend with no problems and then sat at 70mph in air...

Whining noise of full lock in reverse

VCU buggered, get it checked. How are the back tyres looking because it's quite likely that it is the rear tyres scuffing that you can hear.

    Freelander Newbie

I too have a 1.8 petrol Freelander 1 which I am well pleased with. If you want a mud plugger or rock crawler it will not be the car for you but if you want something that is surprisingly capable off road, that is comfortable to ride in, that has all the creature comforts you will need and is...

    freelander knocking underneath at rear

;) Ha ha ha ha ha, I've never heard that one before. You colonials are so quaint.

    Play day.

I was driving home from North Cornwall to Plymouth on the A38 yesterday and passed shed loads of muddy Landys heading in the opposite direction (west). This was around Dobwalls so I assume that whatever it was could have been in the Liskeard area. Most were pretty muddy and well specced up. This...

    Weard Landy (type vehicle)

I was driving down to our local Asda on Monday when I spotted a strange Defender looking vehicle heading at some speed in the opposite drection. It was obviously no normal 'Landy' because of the speed it was going and the way it seemed to handle. Turned out to be a QT Wildcat, which I have...

    Rear wiper parking problems.

The rear wiper on my 1.8 freelander 1 no longer parks on the window rubber when not in use. Instead it parks at the lowere end of the 'wipe action'. When the wiper is turned off it should travel that little bit further to park on the rubber. Anyone got any ideas other than 'burn it' which is...

new tyres today but 36 psi

I understand that Land Rover orginally recomended pressures of 26 psi front and rear but there were some reported issues regarding premature tyre wear. Land Rover then changed their advice to 30 psi. I run mine, 1999 1.8, at 30 psi with no issues either on road or off.

    Why Gaylanders

You think that they are women the same as 'trattor' drivers think that all Freelander drivers are gay. The fact is that these 'women' Range Rover drivers are actually transvestite cross dressers. I know this to be a fact because I see them all the time in my hair salon ;).

What have you done to your Landie today.

There is a problem letting two year old grandsons play in the car. My missus left our two year old grandson playing in my Volvo V70 while I was out playing in the Gaylander. This is a new game where someone hides a set of curling tongs and we have to find them. Anyway, I have yet to discover...

What have you done to your Landie today.

It's amazing what you can stick back on with Blu-Tac, used virtually a whole packet. I was saving up for a new lipstick as well.

What have you done to your Landie today.

Today I have stuck my offside mirror glass back in with Blu-tac after a w****r in a transit wripped it of. Didn't bother to stop, dear of him. Close to a hundred quid and no point claiming on insurance. I wouldn't mind but us Gaylander drivers need the mirrors to help with the hair and lipstick.

What have you done to your Landie today.

I have lined the underfloor boot compartment in the Freelander with fluffy material to hold the curling tongs nice and steady.

    The bitch thread.

There is nothing wrong with pink fluffy steering wheel covers, or any colour for that matter but they are probably more useful in 'proper' Landys' simply because they give the owner / driver some where to wipe their hands free of oil without having to find a rag.

    The bitch thread.

I don't know why the 'trattorboys' always assume that Freelanders are owned and driven by hairdressers. My second car is a 1,8 Freelander and I have never cut any ones hair. I do know a couple of very nice flight attendants and a couple of extremely pleasant stewards in the merchant navy but...

Traction control 9or lack of it)

Thanks for the reply. All dashboard warning lights operate as they should and when the TC light illuminates I can hear and feel the ABS working. This is both when on a slippery surface and or with HD engaged. The tyres are Kumho Venture AT's on 15 inch rims. The front ones are half worn but good...

Traction control 9or lack of it)

As I understand it the VCU is what enables the power to go to the back wheels. The TC is controlled using the ABS hence all the clicking when it is operating. I do not understand why, if the ABS is working correctly, it is not cutting in and stopping the single wheel from is spinning and taking...

Traction control 9or lack of it)

Thanks for your 'reasonable' comment. I had all the wheel allignment done when I bought the car. This included tracking, camber and caster. Some settings were out but not by a lot. Since the new VCU was fitted the car will pick up drive while in full lock in reverse using only tickover which I...

Traction control 9or lack of it)

I am up for most 'reasonable' suggestions but I was mostly thinking of my traction control. Made I larf though.
