Freelander 1 Jatco auto g/box oil & coolant temps

Hi @Freddie17 , can't thank you enough that's put my mind at rest after what was a 'long' job. As the XYZ switch mysteriously failed when it (the g/box) came back from from the reconditioners I was beginning to worry if something else had failed in their 'cleaning' process or if I'd left some...

Freelander 1 Jatco auto g/box oil & coolant temps

Hi, my Foxwell scanner gives me the oil temperature (for level checking) no problem but it also gives the coolant temp presumably from a sensor in the JATCO & it's the high coolant temperature reading from that sensor that concerns me, as when I switch from the g/box menu to the M47 engine menu...

    Disco 2 Battery swap

Hi, welcome to the asylum🙂. As said no need to worry about disconnecting the battery, apart from (as said, the radio if you haven't got the code) & the clock. SLS work (if fitted)often requires the need to disconnect battery to avoid recalibration along with welding etc & don't forget disconnect...

Yep tragic RIP girls, doesn't matter how fit you are, you can't guarantee ya health (makes me smile when people say they're 'fit & healthy').

What have you done to your Freelander today

Replaced the short rubber hose from the vac pump to the hard plastic tube. The 'rubber' hose was as hard as the plastic bit & had split where it pushed onto the pump. I had to stanley knife the end where it pushes onto the plastic hose as there's a hell of a barb on it;). Passed it's mot...

What have you done to your Freelander today

I've had a couple fail on mine as well, I think they break internally as mine had no continuity when put on a mm.

    Disco 2 D2 water leaks

The drains end at the bottom of the A pillar (or thereabouts) so the side steps shouldn't be an issue unless mud/silt is blocking the bottom of the pillars.

    Disco 2 D2 water leaks

I would have thought if the seal was leaking it should drop into the frame & then drain through the tubes, it's when they leak between the frame & roof itself it finds its way onto the headlining (amongst many other ways of course) !

Rear Passenger door difficult to open

As above but you could also try adjusting the striker on the 'C' pillar if you have no luck.

Other Discoveries 1 to 5 off roading

I haven't watched the video yet but I was impressed with the std D3/4s I saw going through the 'mud run' at Billing the other weekend, did anyone else see the Ineos get stuck ?

    VNT Turbo - Worth it?

Hi, is it a manual or auto ? If it's auto the torque converter can be a limiting factor for more torque.

    TD5 Mysterious Coolant Leak?

Hi, welcome to the asylum. Could be worth popping over to the 'introduce yourself' section :). Has it got the 10P (EU2) or 15P (EU3)engine ? Someone must have added the coolant level sensor as these weren't std on D2's.

    Keys not working

Hi, yes you can buy the new cases with microswitches, just a fiddly job soldering those microswitches onto the board, best of luck.

Freelander 1 Freelander 1 brakes seized

Hi,if the discs are grooved/scoured/warped/cracked or down to there minimum thickness then yes they (the discs) will need replacing (even if one is as I described then you must replace both, if they are still smooth on both sides & are not down to the service limits or warped/cracked then they...

Freelander 1 Jatco auto g/box oil & coolant temps

Hi all, after my g/box rebuild (reverse band). Plugged in my Foxwell (with it in the auto transmission mode) to go through the oil level check procedure as per Rave. When the oil temp when reading 35-40 degrees I cycled through the gears a couple of times then checked the level but the reading...
