You need one of these, warm the motor up then suck away...you could remove the oil as well 🤣 🤣

🤣 🤣 🤣
Similar to what I use except mine is much smaller, and probably slower. Each time I push the pump handle down I have to wait for the oil to run into it. It works in a very funny way. I think a lot of the problem is the narrowness of the bore of the tube I have to put down into the sump.

Get a spare sump and gasket, then you'll have a back up plan if the existing sump plug turns out to be u/s.

I could do, although taking sumps on and off TD5s is a bit tricky.
In the past with another car I took the sump off and got an engineering company to drill and tap a bigger hole. The problem with that one was that the sump plug was nearly falling out. Totally the opposite of this one.
So to do a job I'd take the sump off and use all methods to get the plug out. If that was successful I'd weld a bigger, proper nut around a new sump plug and use that. OR obtain a better plug.
If the sump tore while all this was going on I'd have to rethink it, either weld it back up do drilling and tapping, or get a new sump. But I'd still have to do something about the plug, it is a piece of poop.

I have now had time to calm down from the farce involved in fitting the oil filter.

Cannot believe that a job I have done many times became so stupid.

Just couldn't get the new, correct height, filter to screw on to its spindle thing. To the extent that I even fitted the old one to check I wasn't going barmy!

Eventually got it on, but could not tighten it up to my satisfaction.
So, a few lessons learned on the way. Orange nitrile gloves have less grip than the human hand!
Despite managing to use the recently found oil filter removal tool, (worked first time) after 4 times of trying to fit it to do the thing up, and the strap continuously falling off unseen, round the back, I gave up.
So struggled back in to the too small rubber household gloves and eventually managed to tighten it up properly.

Cut my left thumb and forearm scratched too, on "stuff" in the engine bay. Grrr!

I think I am suffering with seni-mechanical dementia. According to the news I should now start the hated statins that my GP wants me to take!! 🤣 🤣 🤣

They’re buggers right enough…I get a few visitors every year too🐀 chocolate spread in a trap works, they’re like me can’t say no to choklit 😋…or a .410 with one of the lower powered shells..that gives em the big cheerio.
W has poison on order although we haven't seen head nor tail of it for a while now, since I disturbed it in fact.
Me no shotgun licence, and even if I did we live in the middle of an estate so not far enough away from a road or neighbour to let one off! :)

I doubt he'll have dug on our patch. one part is fully slabbed, the rest is, as is the whole estate, built on the spoil pile for a long gone pottery of some sort.
Digging into it for any animal would be painful. Which is why we have no moles. I once took all day to dig a 4 foot deep grave for a King Charles Cavalier dog. I had to use a pick.  (Well a mini pick, dint have a propah one.)

Asking for herself's dottir. She has a zaffy and the drl lamp is brighter than the night time headlight. Same lamp but the wrong way round to my mind. Reversing the lamp makes no difference (how is that even possible) @Dippypud, I think you are an officianado? Opine if you have a mind too please...?
Anybody else can pile in anorl. Ta.
