This is important and very sage advice. One of the big advantages of the defender is that you do not buy the perfect one you build the perfect one, whether you are doing that yourself or paying someone else. All you buy in the first instance is...
I cannot thank this forum enough. I've screenshot everything that I felt would help. Today my partner and 2 mates went to the premises exactly where you had shown me. Low an behold....his discovery was parked up, ready an fixed. He drove it home...
If changing the starter and the wee tab then the battery all fixed the problem (albeit temporarily), my money would be on a electrical issue rather an injectors. It will be interesting to see what a Nanocom says.
Not much relevance to LRs, but a good running out of fuel story nonetheless...was heading south on the ice roads (ice road truckers) and had only just come off the last lake back onto the all season road that runs the last 70kms into Yellowknife...
You could try spraying some brake cleaner or easystart around the edges of the inlet manifold to see if the revs change, i.e. go up at a certain point.
Quicker and easier, maybe than taking the manifold off.
First of all, drain the fuel tank and look inside. If it is rusty, remove the tank and clean it out. To clean rusty fuel tanks I use 5 litres of white vinegar and 2-3 table spoons of baking soda. Pour the mixture into the tank, seal it and shake...
I think it's a great idea. They make pick-ups with exhaust brakes now so in theory it would be possible. Not sure about the stresses it would put on an engine - or how you'd find out what it would/wouldn't do to a 200Tdi for that matter. Good...
Exhaust brakes are excellent on HGV's and I personally can't see any reason why one can't be retro fitted to a Landy. I've no idea what stresses it would put on the engine, but if you do decide to give it a go, please make a post on here and...
I don't know if it's of much help in the UK, but here in North America where only very few people know how to drive a manual I would think that leaving the transfer box in neutral would likely be quite effective.
This is an important consideration when purchasing a vehicle. Who wants to drive around in something that you feel you have to be so protective of that you can't even enjoy it?
Plus if it already has a couple of dents in it you will be less precious about taking offroad, rubbing it into the hedge to get past the lorry, etc, and generally using it to throw things in and on and use and enjoy.
We have a car too yeah. Landy is going to be more for our adventures / camping trips, we want to make draws in the back and a dog bed above. Roof rack. Awning. Going to paint the doors to match the body. Get a spare wheel carrier put on. Just...
First time I ordered filters for mine I struggled to fit the new one as it was a ‘bit’ longer than the one that came off. Can’t remember how much longer it was but I’ve always ordered the short Mahle one since
I have a photo somewhere....in South Africa in '91 we were trying to undo a 47mm bolt on a set of discs. All the heat and persuadin' we could offer didn't budge it, so with a combination spanner the ring end went on the offending bolt and the...
I'm in this camp. If someone is going to break into my car and steal something (around here it would be low-lifes looking for loose change to go toward their next fix), I'd rather they didn't break a window to do it. If I leave something...
I was just doing a price comparison for service items between the half dozen or so places I'm most familiar with and that I know will ship overseas. I also order by part number (so LPX100590 for a spin on filter), but I noticed a couple of places...
I suppose that would make sense that a short filter would require changing more frequently. I replace oil, both oil filters and fuel filter every 6000km (3700 miles).
And agreed that the spin on filter isn't hard to get off, but I do find it...
What are the collective thoughts on which brands are good/bad for filters? I know that some people only use genuine parts, some others will always buy the cheapest option, and many I'm sure are somewhere in between. Here in Canada Fram oil...
Anyone with a Td5 will know the spin on oil filter is a little hard to get at (although admittedly it becomes easier with practice). I see that some parts places are selling service kits with 'short' filters, apparently making them easier to get...
