What's the mileage on the vehicle? Assuming it is an auto, has it had an ATF + filter change recently? Is there enough ATF in it? Stupid questions I know but mine (also '89) was sounding rough recently and I changed the oil and filter screen, sweet now.

Can someone pleeeease help. The RH stop lamp on my '89 Classic keeps randomly failing. At first I thought the bulb had gone but i've since realised if I remove the bulb and put it back in again it works fine, for a bit. It's almost like taking it out and putting it back is resetting it...
