They can be repaired. They have to be drilled to separate and the spring replaced.
There is a link on here for a repair kit. Nice and cheap, and an easy job.
Mackers, the last one I did used the stretchy carpet material normally used in VWs. Can't find the link but it was a VW place in Leeds. I ended up covering all of the plastic inside. Really easy to do but remember to use high temp blue and glue both carpet and roof.

+1 on RAM mounts. There's some pics of mine in the my vehicle section. Avoid cheap Chinese copies.

Don't make the mistake I did when rebuilding for the first time. TD with Def 200 fitted. Round at the local scrapyard I saw a 90 that had been rolled but the bulkhead looked good. A deal was hit and the mint bulkhead was delivered the following morning. I striped everything of it and treated...
Had a similar problem. I've now connected all the earths together, then to the bulkhead. I had to adjust the on-off-on to make the illumination work on both ''ons'. The four ways required separate wiring to work properly.
No haven't left in the Landy yet, I'm just working abroad at the moment. If all goes to plan I'll be working in and around the bolcans for a couple of years shortly and I'd like to take the Landy and explore, hence the concern over the MOT.
