As it says, following on from my previous problems I had to sump up nearly a grand and have a garage replace the clutch ;

While driving up hill, less than 100 miles out of the garage, I started to loose power, over about 10-15 seconds. I assumed it was trailer breaks binding as id just breaked sharply so stopped to check the trailer load hadnt shifted.
When I started again it was very weak and spluttery and died after about 10 meters in first, and since then I cant start it at all.

Plenty of power and everything turns over - I was able to breifly get it to fire hand pumping the lift pump -

What else could it be or should I replace the lift pump? The Solenoid on the injector pump appears fine and when starting the injector pump seems to be pumping fine.

Did they take engine or box out to do the clutch?
If the engine then maybe loose fuel line connection letting in air.
Bad connection to stop solenoid.
Leak off pipes leaking.
Coincidentally the fuel filter has clogged.

I was able to get it to fire briefly by pumping fuel using the primeing lever.

Yes they took the engine and box out to do the clutch - The lift pump is the factory fitted one.

1kl for a clutch fit?
check lift pump pipes are in the right way round

their were other bits and I asked for everything that was worn to be replaced with heavy duty parts as well - figured if the engine is out get everything put right in the engine bay in one go. Mostly just cleaning, rust removal, new pipes, wires, corodded and knaked bits, wipers etc. etc.

The pipes were in the right way round.

Get some carb cleaner spray into the air intake while someone cranks the engine. If it fires it's not getting fuel. Get a can full off diesel take the pipe off the pump that draws fuel get a new small pipe from the fuel can to the pump and crack open the injectors and turn over . I take it you know how to bleed a diesel. If it runs they muck up something fuel lines on wrong or a block fuel filter just by bad luck

Its either fuel or air, so you can check for fuel at IP using lift pump then on to check at injectors.
Has it had a fuel filter recently?

Had my 200tdi out last August for clutch, crank seal replacement [ was not crankseal leaking but was the gearbox input seal, both got done] Afterwards had similar running problems that was just an air leak on the input side of the lift pump.

I had this whilst touring Scotland. A small split in the fuel pipe before the pump was the culprit.

Replaced the lift pump and it started straight away,

but 3 miles down the road it died again, so going to replace filter now, anything else major to look for?

replaced filter but still no joy, everything else seems to be working fine anfd it fires if I fill the filter with diesel until it runs out,

Is their anything other than just a pipe from the fuewl tank to the lift pump?>

and its piped correctly

Don’t replace bits to try and fix the fault, find the fault first. Get some clear tubing, 8mm diameter, 150mm long should work, it doesn’t really matter what type it is as it’s only a temporary install. Put a piece from the file filter to the FIP. See if you can see air bubbles in the fuel, if so, remove the clear pipe and move it further back down stream in the fuel system. Once you get to the point where no air bubbles are, you should have found an area that is letting air in. I had a running issue on mine earlier this year. I replaced the main fuel feed line from the tank to the lift pump, and the lift pump. I now keep a piece of clear line in the car permanently!
