Bump as I'm curious..

The wipers went back easily. The were wiping just fine before this. It's wasn't so much that the wipers were loaded with snow it seemed that it rotated too far to the right (when sitting inside) and got stuck. Will try removing the wipers then refitting in the park position.

In a mental snow storm this morning I had the wipers going flat out and all of a sudden they went all the way to the right further than normal and got stuck. I turned the wipers off immediately, then got out and had to move them back. Now the wipers will only move to the right and won't return...

Got starter off and cleaned the solenoid etc. The gears from the starter are a bit damaged. So I'll pick up a new starter in a while and replace it with a new one. Would I be better to get a newer type starter for a 300tdi or just get a td one?

Couldn't do much tonight but gave it a slap of the hammer and its grand now. Battery is flat though. Might get a new solenoid. What's the best way to get the starter off? Suppose it's best if I remove the exhaust pipe in the way.

Hi folks. Start my 2.5td up last night drove about 400 m then I could hear this awful rattling/whirling noise. I stopped and then realized that it was the starter running. I turned off the ignition and still it was turning over I had to disconnect the battery. Any idea's? Is it the solenoid or...

Yes they do leave ffr vehicles running to keep the batteries charged so the radios don't lose power and have to be reset. I've seen them idling for 8 or 9 hours easily.

I'm no expert but it seems to run ok no obvious rattles or odd noises that I can tell. As far as power is concerned I think it's definitely lacking top end. 100kmph seems it's limit without having it screaming.

It has 212k miles. Is it badly worn and on deaths door or what?
