I wish I was putting a 6bt in mine but think it will be a 200tdi for now. I thought a website or shop for was selling the adapter kit. I might be looking for that kit in the future. What kinda money would a conversion cost roughly speaking? If you don't mind me asking..

Nope, no website, just another cummins nutter who's doing them for others.
Cost will depend on how much you can do your self, plus everyone has different ways of doing things and no 2 are really the same.
I recon mine will be about £2200-2400 by the time I'm done and it's how I want it.
To be honest I didn't expect the costs to be that high, but when I added it up that's what it came too, I suppose all the 3/4 quid hose tails/adapters and the like all add up.

It depends on the vehicle that the engine was destined for....

160-215 bhp as standard but very easily capable of 250bhp with very minor mods like the ones you would do to 300TDi etc without affecting it's longevity much

then there is

400-440 lb/ft of torque! Again with the above minor fueling mods 500+

All this whilst still getting 25-30 mpg :D

Only real issue is that they weigh 500Kg and will probably put the front of the car over weight!

In standard form the ve pumped ones come in 130/150/160 bhp and the p-pumped ones 210 I think.
I suppose it depends on how far you want to go, standard internal or not.
They're a massive thing in the states and theirs plenty of 1000bhp cummins over their.
The truth is on standard internals it's more than enough for any lr, and more than enough to destroy the transmission :eek:
Can't remember exactly what they're good for on standard internals but 600bhp seems to ring true, and I was told as a general rule of thumb the torque is usually double the bhp.

I have a 300TDi disco and a galvanised 110 chassis plus a few other bits and pieces and was going to get a galvanised bulkhead then strip the 300TDi disco to build up the chassis to a running chassis then buy a 110 that has rusty chassis and bulkhead to finish the project BUT the more I see of this the more I want to sell the 300TDi engine and buy a 6BT. Then build the same vehicle..... I could move as much as possible to the back to even out the weight...........

It's never a good thing when people on ebay are putting in their listing 'Fits landrover defender'
So the breakers are onto it and now is the time to buy if you're going to do it.
Don't get me wrong the prices will go up but will have to come down when no one buys them, it's just a matter of how long the process takes.
So in short, buy what you can now :D

So would I but paying someone else to do the work I want would cost me an absolute fortune and I'd rather spend the money on other things. Once I've got the new building sorted it'll be great to work in the warm and dry and be able to leave jobs partly finished.

haha, today, while out in 60mph winds and driving rain, trying to sort out the gear selector, i didn start to wish id never started this project, but then i started it up and that put a smile on my face :p

Very true, if I had any spare money and space I'd be buying another engine and box for a future project.
But I haven't and I can't even afford to finish this one.
Fancy building a cummins 130 dcpu in a few years, and I mean a good few years at that.
