    Square steering!!

I spoke with a mech who after checking everything agreed that it could be a UJ issue. When its stationary, I can turn the wheel, lock to lock, with one hand so the pump must be working. The problem only starts when I drive. This may sound odd but how do I clean a UJ!!?? Pressure washer, de...

If it makes the noise when the clutch is fully or partially disengaged and not when the Disco is in gear then it's most likely to be the release bearing.

    Square steering!!

Hi all My '01 TD5 has started to become difficult to steer/turn. It seems to get a little better after a while but the steering is VERY heavy and feels 'lumpy'!! The fluid level is fine and I can see no leaks, all the belts are dry, (I say all belts as I dont know which one is related to...

Live near Weston-s-Mare and have Diagnostic Tool??

Hi I need to reset a code on my '01 TD5. The engine ran for a little while with no coolant which resulted in the AC fan kicking to help the engine. I've had the engine, thermostat etc checked and all is ok but need a NANOCOM or similar to reset the AC fan as it still thinks the engine is...

TD5 Power, Temp and hot air

My TD5 was/is exactly the same. I checked the coolant level and it was empty! I toppped it right up, left the filler cap off for a while whilst running the engine (to hopefully remove a possible air lock) and all seemed ok for a while. Afetr a while I noticed the level had dropped a little...

    Harman Kardon stereo

You only need the number 1 button and the left and right arrows. Press the number 1 button then the right button untill you get to the number you require. Then press number 1 again and it will move to the second digit and do the same again with the arrow etc etc untill last digit then press 1 again.

TD5 - Lack of constant heat.

Suddenly.....NO LEAK!!! I topped up the coolant level, left the engine running with the cap left off the coolant reservoir to see if it would clear any air and it seems to have worked. The level has remained constant for 24 hours after doing 150 miles, now so fingers crossed. I think the...

TD5 - Lack of constant heat.

Its not the viscous fan, it is the smaller one. Funny thing is, it doesn't run if just the ignition is switched on, the engine has to be running and I cant switch it off via the dash, it doesn't respond. I'm thinking of simply disconnecting the battery for a couple of minutes to see if the...

    Discovery II td5 Advice

TD5 lots of issues but what car doesn't! Seats 6 and 7 only fold down when they want to (which drives me insane!!!!), Air suspension bags developed holes and needed changing, fuel pipe rubbed on the chassis and leaked, drivers door doesn't unlock with the central locking, i've just had to get...

TD5 - Lack of constant heat.

No the top pipe isn't rock hard, if anything there is too little pressure in the system as it is always quite soft, even after 20 minutes on the motorway, which just confirms a leak somewhere. :( I 've just had the engine cover, rad cover and anything else plastic off and I cant see a...

TD5 - Lack of constant heat.

Eightinavee, you are right - now I have topped up the coolant, the heater works!!! However that must mean coolant leak somewhere, great! Not sure how I check for a leak though, there's water all over the floor because of melting snow and cant see anything dripping!! And the fan wont stop...

TD5 - Lack of constant heat.

The coolant level was very low (none in the reservoir) so i've just topped it up. As for spotting a leak, it's dark and water/slush/snow everywhere so i'll wait till morning and see if any of the snow has been stained with coolant. One thing I did notice is when I started it up after topping...

    clonking when turning

Mine does exactly the same, when driving if I throw the weight from side to side by moving the steering wheel (obviously in a safe way!) I can make the steering knock, I can feel it through the floor. I have been told (and shown) it is the rod in front of the front axel and apart from being...

TD5 - Lack of constant heat.

Further advice needed!! I was just on the M5, the car juddered, lost a little power (hesitated and wouldn't pull in 5th anymore) and the heater started working! any ideas?? The engine temp gauge then dropped to the bottom and the red light came on, I pulled over turned the ignition off and...

    disco 2 wheel upgrade

I have 255/55/18 on hurricane alloys on my TD5. They were standard fit and seem ok. I do however want to fit a more off-road biased tyre on next time and they are quite expensive for 18" wheels. I have seen quite a few TD5's with RR/RR sport alloys on, so they must fit.

TD5 - Lack of constant heat.

Thanks for the suggestions/ideas. I've just come back from an hours drive, the engine temp gauge is working fine and remains at the halfway mark, i've checked the coolant level and that's also fine but for the entire journey......NO HEAT, the fan is just circulating cold air. Normally there...

TD5 - Lack of constant heat.

The heater in my 51' Td5 works only when it wants to, any ideas why?? It doesn't matter whether the AC is on or off or whether auto or manual temp select is selected. It works a little better when moving and the fan speed is low. When i'm stationary just forget it!! It does work sometimes...

    Rear suspension dropping

The airbags 'roll' into themselves. When you take the suspension to its highest setting, the bag extends and the tiny holes close up = no leaks.
