Hi all

My '01 TD5 has started to become difficult to steer/turn.
It seems to get a little better after a while but the steering is VERY heavy and feels 'lumpy'!!
The fluid level is fine and I can see no leaks, all the belts are dry, (I say all belts as I dont know which one is related to steering!!) could it be the pump is failing?

Dunno if the td5 is the same but I've had this on every landy I've owned at some point. Clean and lubricate the u/j's on the steering column. They get thick with muck especially if you've been in any mud.

I spoke with a mech who after checking everything agreed that it could be a UJ issue. When its stationary, I can turn the wheel, lock to lock, with one hand so the pump must be working. The problem only starts when I drive.

This may sound odd but how do I clean a UJ!!?? Pressure washer, de greaser,both?

fit a new one shagged inside grease goes hard needle rollers wear the shafts inside

After the good advice I sprayed both ends of the UJ in lithium grease and now it is like new! Wonderful!!!!
