I have a 2005 model so will try and remember to take a pic tomorrow although mine was leaking quite badly a couple of years back and I traced it to the vertical part of the seal at the hinge side, all I did was to remove the seal, re-shape the metal flange so it was closer to the door then...

I have never tested the fuel consumption on our TD4, planning to do it next month just out of interest, going to use it for work over a week, my 1.8 gets 31 mpg over that route so will be interesting to see how the TD4 does in comparison - I am hoping for high 30's :)

Our 2005 TD4 was bought when it was almost 3 years old and 30k miles, its now on 60k and has needed a new under wheel arch fuel pump around 40k and new front brake discs at 55k and thats it. VCU still good as well.

I don't think you will see much of a fuel saving, I get 31 mpg from my 1.8 Freelander doing longer runs but that figure will drop with more local/town driving. Would imagine you will get similar mpg from your TDi Disco.

It can be painted using the right paint, I did the lower bumper on a VW Golf which is a similar textured finish, you can either build up the paint to achieve a smooth surface or leave it textured.

Chances are it could be something simple like mis-matched tyres. When I bought my 1.8 it had a selection of different makes and would pull to the left and twitch badly. It felt like the back was trying to pull one way and the front the other way. I fitted 2 new tyres so the makes/type matched...

If you lock with the fob it should arm both interior motion (volume sensing as handbook calls it) and perimeter alarm (doors) locking with the key (turning the key only once) activates the perimeter alarm only - are your interior lights working properly, coming on and going off as you open and...

If the pump stops before the engine stalls, perhaps the problem lies with the fuel pump itself. When the pump stops check you are still getting 12v at the pump connection, if you are then chances are the pump is faulty.

Check out the prices of replacement tyres before you go ahead, 17's are not cheap :(

:D Yes it takes longer to get the jack out and wheel off than it does to change them. My Land Rover ones doing fine so far :)

The side steps on my 3 door Freelander originally came from a 5 door model - they are the same - no such thing as a SWB and LWB Freelander :)

Sounds like the HG replacement has not been done properly in the first place :(

I guess you could use flexi hoses if you can find the correct lengths but then you would need to make sure the hose is not rubbing on any part of the suspension - far easier just to replace with copper - simple job to do :)

Check your IACV - if its stuck closed then sometimes you can clean it.
