How do I lube my stiff handles? (P38)

I had the same problem. Thankfully mine was the door handle. I unscrewed them used some light grease and sprayed the lock through the aperature and all is fine and dandy now.

    misfire headache p38 Thor

Have you checked the idle / stepper motor? It may/may not be the cause but I have read it can cause many different issues when it's carboned up. Just done mine (gems) and it starts much quicker and easier

    Buying a P38

They are lovely motors. Yes they do hae problems but the drive soon outweighs them. I have a 4.6 done out like an autobiography with Sat Nav TV etc. 120k miles FSH and I put LPG in it. I got mine cheap 5 years ago because at some stage in it's life it had a small fire under the bonnet...

Reccommend a good place for LR servicing in Kent

I have used the one in Folkestone many times. I am using the Canterbury as he comes highly recomended by a friend who works at BMW. Both of these garages have extremely good reputations.

    RH Rocker Cover Breather

No probs. Let us know how you get on. Only one tree in the (UK) drivers side rocker. I think it's because the other side goes to a very narrow hole whereas the driver's side actually sucks the oil out if the seperator isn;t there.

My Last chance to fix it.

Before ypu go down that route I would suggest it was the ECU temp sensor not working (Front of Engine) and overfuelling due to thinking the engine is cold. Either that or another issue is the fuel temp sensor in the fuel rail. I would go with ECU temp sensor first as if it's packed up it will...

    RH Rocker Cover Breather

The stub pipe on my 97 HSE on the right (Looking from the front) goes to the air inlet on the plenum by throttle link and is clear. The one on the left (drivers side) has a long plastic "tree" in it which is the oil catcher. Supposed to be cleaned every 12000 miles I think. They get...

    P38 4.0 oil leak?

I think they have a few. Favourite is the rocker covers coming loose. You need an 8mm 12 sided socket to pinch them up. Also around the sump where it joins the block. My 4.6 was rocker covers. Cleaned them up afterwards and been fine since

Neighbours Range Rover Vogue 2.5TD Suspension problem help Please..

Cant help on the classic. Airbags for a P38 are between 62 - 75 pounds each from a factor such as island 4x4. I think the compressor for the suspension is in the rear behind the trim in the boot. I would assume the suspension is similar to the P38 in that when it goes hard fault it needs the...

no sport/manual light or low range

If you download the Rave (workshop manual), links are available on here, it will give you the full information that is available to the garages. Including wiring diagrams (as I found out last weekend to help me sort my diesel RR problem). Have a mooch and see how you get on with that:rolleyes:

    V8 Reluctant to start

My 4.6 is doing the same. I read here about the stepper motor for the idle control. Took it out and it was filthy. The seating was caked with carbon. Cleaned it all out and so far it has started on he button (Not been out in it yet as I need to find out why it keeps flattening the battery!)

Best color for P38 Range Rover

Looks very nice. I'm sure the pics dont do justice. Mines Rioja Red and I really like that colour. The diesel is also metallic red but a different shade so I assume it's different but I dont know what it is yet

    Buzzer whilst driving

I had the same issue on a 4.6. Occasionally I got a gearbox overheat on the dash (Normally after I came off the shuttle). Stopped, switched off and started again no problems. I put it down to electrical interference. Maybe an earthing issue?

2.5 diesel '51 - starting problem after replacing battery

I agree it probably needs to be re sync'd. I had to get my 4.6 recovered to a specialist to be sorted. Charged me £80. Only £115 for the unit which you then have forever!
