My next door neighbour has bought a 2.5TD Vogue Range Rover. The air suspension is defective and on the stops - I had a look over it today but couldn't get the suspension up. I dont know anything about Range rovers but thought it may have been a fuse or relay defective.

Couple of questions if anyone can help:

1. How much will it cost to get new seals on the suspension?
2. Is it worthwhile repairing them cost wise for the age of the vehicle.

He paid £300 for it with no Tax/MOT and wants it to tow his caravan.

I had a look at the seals and they are perished badly!

Any help / advice much appreciated fella's

Cant help on the classic.
Airbags for a P38 are between 62 - 75 pounds each from a factor such as island 4x4.

I think the compressor for the suspension is in the rear behind the trim in the boot.

I would assume the suspension is similar to the P38 in that when it goes hard fault it needs the patch lead to plug in and the free software for a laptop. Then you can play as much as you like.

Ebay will probably help with the lead if they are available (which I assume they are).

IMO they are always worth saving / putting right!

Good luck and keep us posted;)

With the look of the vehicle, rust on brake pipes and general condition Etc. Cheapest option would most likely be to fit an engine in the caravan.

Definitely worth repairing, a soft dash TDi will be a collectors items one day, though doesn't look like the last owner thought so.

I had an air suspended Classic, when in fault mode all 3 lights on the up/down/inhibit buttons flash, then the lower one stays lit, obviously it doens't respond in anyway - with mine it would still pump itself up to ride height though, I believe the Classic was a bit more resilient when it comes to faults, though the EAS software is available as it is for the P38. The connector is a 2-pin under the drivers or passengers seat. The compressor/valve block is in fact on the side of the chassis, under the driver iirc.

The airbags for the Classic are available, you just replace the rubber bladder so be careful not to damage the top and bottom piston, they are £90 for a pair last time I bought.

What is the body like on it, around the rear wheel arches and boot floor? If its too far gone it might not be worth spending money on the suspension.
