Hi guys, still got problems with my p38 4.0. But now I have family issues which may result in the sale of the Range rover if I cant fix it. Had IrishRover come and plug it in to show that the Lambdas were reading stupind volumes. Which we thought was why it was overfuelling and flooding on tick over. So changed the lambdas and still the same. Anyone got anysuggestions, think Ive narrowed my choices down to coil packs, leads (even though they are new), or camshaft sensor (secondhand one purchased). Want to keep it and use it as they've always been my dream car but solicitors fees aint cheap and can't afford to waste £200 on coilpacks to find out its the £200 camshaft sensor.
Any suggestions other than the next route of some petrol and a match would be really helpful. Thanks

Before ypu go down that route I would suggest it was the ECU temp sensor not working (Front of Engine) and overfuelling due to thinking the engine is cold. Either that or another issue is the fuel temp sensor in the fuel rail.

I would go with ECU temp sensor first as if it's packed up it will think the engines always cold and therefore chuck loads of fuel in (thinking it's cold) and therefore throw the Lamda values right out as they cant correct the fuel trim due to the overfuelling.

Hope that makes sense!

test the resistance at cold and again at hot.

dunno what the values should be but i'm sure someone can test thiers too!

Put a new coolant temp sensor in it when I had it, still the same, and I live dataed the temp sensor and it was altering. My mate scanned it earlier and its still coming up camshaft sensor, but dont know whethr to take the plunge and by a new one. Can you test the cam sensor? How?

If both lambdas sensors are reading high coming out of the engine, then you need to look at what's going in. You need to start at the MAF sensor.

You may want to reset the GEMS ECU to default values when you change things like MAF sensor etc. It "learns" and adapts its mapping as you drive along. Resetting to default will allow it to relearn with the new components.
