    Defender V8 & LT85 oil

On Autodata technical info it says 10w40 for the gearbox as well as the engine, LR must have changed their recommendation. It only lists 20w/50 for hot climate conditions so the 15w/50 might be too thick for winter. It also says 90w for the diffs and 90 for the transfer box, hopefully this helps...

    Engine oil additives

My oil costs me under £1 a litre for the very best of stuff. It's a superb premium grade 15w-40 for turbo diesels. I would really like to hear your reasons for it being "the wrong viscosity" and so on. Do tell. I may choose an oil that is ABSOLUTELY IDEAL for MY car in MY hands in MY...

The torque does taper off but what does it taper off to, i cant see the measurements. You might find it tapers off to a similar figure to what the bhp climbs to maybe.

I'm thinking the Chevy V8 will be a better engine to put in than the rover. Didn't Overfinch use Chevy engines in the RR?

    Engine oil additives

You are right, retail prices for oil suck. My friend had a service done at LR dealer and paid £70 for a sump full, but you can buy oil straight from the oil company if you want to. I couldn't remember where you get you ovoline from but if it's not from ovoline you should get in touch with them...

Sorry chaps, got the wrong end of the stick there. I thought for some reason the problem was with the clutch, obvously i should learn to read before i start to write! Regards Riggaz

    Engine oil additives

The reason for it being the wrong viscosity is the fact that LR list 5w/30 and you are using 15w40 as i've told you time and time again you ****ing idiot, i havent plucked this out of the air it's what Land Rover recommend. That viscosity is fine for TDi engines and various others but not for...

    Best Engine Oil

For your TD5 5w/30 is the only viscosity recommended, dont have a go at me i didn't build it. If you use oil that's too thick it will not protect your engine as well because the machining tolerances are too close for the thicker oil to get between the metal faces, this is what is recommended by...
