I put a new regulator in mine as it was only just over £30 and only took about 20 mins to fit it .

By main shaft bearings if they mean the prop bearings, bell quoted me £320 for vcu and bearings ,i can source good bearings local for £90 and £50-£60 for fitting .

i would imagine that to a certain extent the stiffness felt on reversing could depend on what sort of tyre type is fitted as mud/at tyres will drag more that normal road tyres because of the rolling resistance .
