Hi all
After some advise my 2004 freelander firstly started to have lumpy tick over which has now gone but it's very sluggish until 2000rpm and struggles on hills if the revs drop below this, I have changed the MAF sensor the turbo vacuum solenoid and fuel filter so far the breather system changed last August and also EGR blanked I've read so many threads don't no which to do next maybe the fuel pressure sensor and loom as this is still the standard factory loom, any help would be great

mine always use to feel slightly sluggish so i fitted a bluespark cr 2tech tuning box ,it aint sluggish anymore it pulls from low down tows 1.5 ton of caravan with no trouble and goes like a train , you seem to have changed most things, try an injector cleaner it might help and be cheaper than a sensor and loom .

maybe the fuel pressure sensor and loom
no harm in checking and cleaning the plug / socket pins ..
( ' contralube 770 ' is a good defence against corrosion on electrical connections )

re. sluggish ..
when was the air filter last changed ?
the air filter housing has a few small holes ..
some ( 3 i think ) look like water drain holes
be a couple more .. slightly larger .. the use of which be unclear
they all let air in from the engine bay .. can include oil fumes and soot at a guess ..
in particular from the small w.drain holes directly above the exhaust manifold ..
( one can spot the tell-tale black mark(s) on the filter )
that can dirty up the air filter to the extent of making the engine feel slug-like at lower rpm ..
( due to less airflow over the maf sensor )
and can occur before the recommended air-filter mileage service interval ..

has the turbo vacuum solenoid Filter been checked ?

i take it that the engine hasn't always been "very sluggish until 2000rpm"
or has it ?

a good tuning box .. or good remap ..
makes a big difference to engine performance .. thru the rpm range ..

be a downloadable "75/ZT/TD4 Fault Diagnosis".pdf file on this page:

( i was wondering about the m.a.p. sensor )

re. tha pdf. .. and above links ..
a.f.a.i.k. .. early td4's have the in-tank pump .. 'n lp pump and fuel filter be in engine bay .. later td4's have no in-tank pump .. 'n lp. pump and fuel filter be under drivers side ( uk ) rear wheel arch ..
not sure exactly which year was the change over
