Although I know from experience that ford liked fitting heated screens in their cars a long time ago (my and my mates sierra cosworths had them among others) I have come across 300/v8 d1's with them but I do believe they were largely an optional extra
Yeah, I've always been under the impression that Ford invented the heated screen and had it patented. Fitting them to their cars, in America anyway, since mid eighties. Then started fitting them to LR's when they bought LR in 2000. I've obviously misinterpreted that though, cos your D1 will be pre 2000? The patent since ran out and others have since made their own.

I'm really pleased with my new handbrake. Went to Wales today and I can now leave the Land Rover on the handbrake while i open gates. Much better than having to stop the engine and out it in gear.

Well, that does surprise me il be honest, the one we had needed 2 separate switches flicking to get from dip to main haha

My 94 escort had heated screen. It was brilliant in winter, but I found it sparkly when driving at night, and quite distracting.

I know wot you mean, I was very much a Ford lad for years and I remember many having them and how much of a good thing they were, but 2 stand out mainly cos of the difference...my sierra cosworth had one that you could hardy see the wires in and my last escort was a '98 and it might aswell of had barbed wire running thru it

Ujs knackered & changed. Still a bit of play in the splines even after grease.
Time to buy a new front prop & use this as a emergency spare.

I fitted some of these, but they suit the Freelander betterer

Fitted a replacement intercooler, the old one had a small hole, seems to be quite common.
Not sure if it makes any difference in the real world.

Cheers
