Now, why not go stoopid squared? Why not buy this Freelander mk1.5 and electrocute it?

I actually think this mk1.5 has got the potential to be a very smart looking motor at the end up, it seems a shame to see it sitting forlorn on someone's front lawn.
 
@Nodge68, would a FL1.5's injectors and ECU be of any use for your FL2 faultfinding? :cool:

The FL2 is a completely different machine, using a PSA engine instead of a BMW unit.

In fact there is only 1 component from the FL1 used on FL2, which are the little turnbuckle hooks in the boot.

I was joking - I know the FL1 is totally different from the FL2, the former having a BMW engine the latter having a ford/PSA engine, I was playing on the ebay FL1/2 hybrid/chimera.

Was yesterday. But I managed to put a few miles on the FL2, mostly because I wanted to change the PTU oil, so figured it sensible to warm it up.
Unfortunately I couldn't get the fill/drain plug out, as it simply refused to undo. Not even my impact gun would shift it, so it's definitely stuck fast. I'll wait until the weather improves, before giving it another go.

The engine running now, but isn't perfect, it is however drivable, as long as the revs are kept under 2000 RPM, there's no misfire, which is odd.

I'm going to give it a few doses of Diesel Magic, over the next few tanks of fuel, and see what effect that makes.

Ok it's not the first time, but today it drove without any misfiring, although I do need to keep the revs below 2000 to achieve that.
It's so nice to drive. It's much more civilised compared to a FL1.:)
I also put £25 of diesel in the tank, along with a bottle of Comma Diesel Magic, which may or may not improve the running above 2000 RPM.:confused:
 
Got the car through the mot. Another 12 months trouble free motoring ahead. Passed on everything except the brake lines. Nearly all of them were rusty. I knew they were rough. So had the lot replaced. All good now I hope.
 
Today I received a box of goodies from my preferred LR parts supplier, so the FL2 will have some shiny new front brakes on Saturday.

any how i now have a bent wing and scraped bumper,had it nearly four and a half years and never scratched it.
but its only a car.
 
1.8 K started the other day like the engine management was not telling the engine it was cold. Wouldn't tick over without revs but drove fine. Fault code P0118. Cleaned all connectors on temp sensor and all OK now. Not sure what the ecu default temp would be if it lost the sensor?

Also, while under the lid, cleaned plugs and found 3 of them slightly loose. Cleaned, gapped and tightened. Idle is now steady. It used to wobble 700 to 800 ish. Oil in plug 1 hole, not much but where might that have come from? It was one of the loose plugs so maybe blow past? It was lovely golden brown engine oil though!!

Drives superbly now. Just ordered 5 new Geolander GO15s 225, 65 x 17. Have got fed up with the roar of the part worn out Grabber ATs!!

If it still roars with the Geo's then I will look elsewhere!!!
 
The question is....

Do I fit new tyres to Freedom 6 spoke or Trek wheels?? I have a set of both but the Freedoms are mint and the Trek require refinishing.

Views please?

Man - I'm gutted for you - that was a very unfortunate turn of events :-( - Howeer it is repairable and no one was hurt, so it's not the worst it could have been :-/

As for @andyfreelandy's conundrum about which rims to put the new tyres on, The 16" freedom looks too similar to the ubiquitous 16" freestyle alloys to have any sense of pop. However, the new geolander tyres on a freshly finished set of Trek's will really set off the tangiers orange of the g4 1.8 so I'm agreeing with @kernowsvenski and suggesting you refurb the trek's and fit the geolanders to those rims.
 
Oh yeah, I did a bit to mine, more messing with the ronbox trying to get the sweetspot of no smoke but plenty of poke, and playing with wheel alignment setups.
