Fitted rally mudflaps to the rear of my silver Td4. 4mm thick as per regs. I'll get around to the fronts next time I'm off work.

Thought about selling it..... I'm going green.

Leasing a Nissan Leaf. My annual fuel bill will go from £2,500-£3,000 to less than £250 with no car tax.

Most of my journeys are well within the range of the Leaf.

That should be good for the lanes & trips to Scotland

It certainly will 😎

Just watched the latest Top Gear Special, and seeing that what I need is a Lotus Esprit for off-roading, but the Leaf will do 😄

Ecotricity is my friend for long distance trips. Just takes a little longer, but at the moment I could get to Scotland for free. Not sure how far north I could go as not examined the charge point map up there yet..... 80% charge in 30 mins. Range about 80 miles but on a full charge about 90-100 miles.

Electric is fine for city cars - and presumably most of your travel is within London, but long distance its still not effective. To get those ranges, you've probably got to travel at something like 50MPH, so its already taking longer, then every hour and a half's travel actually takes 2 hours because of the charge time.

Not sure if it would be better or worse over here. Towns can be an hour apart over here - so you're probably going to need to charge when you're only down to 50%, but there again I suppose its easier to create unmanned fill up points anywhere there's a power feed, so as there's so few roads, they could easily be installed in in the middle of nowhere.

Anyway, they are not green at all. The batteries are environmentally toxic to make and the electric you'll be using will have primarily been created from coal (at least here would be green hydro). The cost savings on fuel, will be offset by hugely expensive battery replacement costs as their life, although getting better, is still quite short.

Calling them 'green' should be directed to the advertising standards authority.

Go for it, we did and love the leaf. Actual range is about 80-90 miles but it works very well and it's a lovely car! I hear it's better range in the warm

We kept the Freebie for occasional play:)

Read up on the Nissan sites, Nissan put lot of effort into the green credentials not like Toyota hybrid of old. If you really want to be green you ca pay a bit more for an all green electricity tariff:)

I keep having thoughts about going green. Exchange my FL1 v6 at 298gm/km co2 for a FL2 SD4 at 185gm/km co2.

Took my new tires out for an adventure today. Note to self don't go off Roading on the mountains on a rainy and foggy day. Especially at 4 in the morning and by yourself lol. Still didn't get stuck, but hey, can ever be to careful.

Had a look at my broken window mechanism, looks like one of the cables have snapped, ordered some off eBay, looks like a right bugger to get to though, not enough room in the door to work on it!
