Stripped down a 5 door tailgate from a 2000 model to get at the window regulator. Next step is to make it fit into my 54 reg 3 door. Well they look the same.......and it's given me plenty to sell on eBay.

On Friday I fitted a CB bracket to the spare wheel and wired in my CB, then went green laning around 9pm in the dark with my bro and his 110, I got stuck and had to get towed out of some very deep ruts.

On Saturday I built a shelf to go in the boot for my french bulldog to sit on, so I don't have to keep taking all my kit out when we take her for a road trip.

I have just ordered some new wheels and tyres this morning, ready for when I fit my 40mm lift kit from SES88 :) so hopefully I won't get stuck in the mud anymore when we go out for drive!

Why did you drive a "deeply rutted" lane?

Why did you drive a "deeply rutted" lane?

The lanes are about 5 miles long, there was only 1 tiny section at a gate that had deep ruts. I tried to straddle them but it was too slippy and I slid sideways into them. If I had better tyres then I don't think I would have slipped

After a trip to get my LPG serviced and being advised that the cambelt tensioner was kaput/rattling it got replaced and guess what the rattle was still there.
It only happens at about 2500 rpm sounds like a drumming /bearing ,anyway today we got her up on the 4 post lift and poked around in the engine bay and low and behold the bottom bolt holding the alternator had lost its nut and was bouncing in its housing.
It had worn the locking slot the bolt head fits in so when we tried to fit and tighten a new nut it just turned, much later with a bit of slim steel as a shim all is well and she's purring and smooth again. The moral of this tale is don't always trust the word of the Gas Monkey
and check the tightness of your nuts now and then ooooeeeerrrr missus!!!

Fitted a new TRE in about 40 minutes then spent about 2 hours grinding the broken tap out of the track rod after the clamping bolt snapped off, after it was drilled out etc....
Could have bought a new one but's wheres the fun in that ?;)

oh dear - snap!

At Christmas, I noticed a whine/squeal from my cam belt 'area'...

http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f9/noise-timing-aux-belt-end-l-series-engine-273064.html

I wondered if it was something on the drive/aux belt so took that off and noise was still there - so deduced that it was the cam belt tensioner or idler - on checking, they weren't replaced by the garage when the belts were done 35K KMs ago. So I started getting prices for the bits - to find everywhere shut till 12th Jan (its summer hols here), so I laid the car up not wanting the belt to go and ruin the engine.

So back to it this week. Got my prices etc and thought I'd have 1 more look at the engine - fired her up and no noise!

Confused I went for advice from a fishing buddy who runs a workshop. Still no noise there and his response was that bearings don't fix themselves - so its highly unlikely that the noise was from the belt - plus of course without the noise, he didn't have anywhere to start searching.

At least I didn't spend the money on parts, but of course I'm still a bit anxious without finding the culprit for the problem. In some ways I don't want it to reappear but then if it does, hopefully it can be identified!

Very happy after today's obsolete chasing day :D . Got this nice LR light kit, almost daylight robbery. Comes from 2002, virgin and not used . Direct from Spain.

Wor lass crashed me orange one, well, someone drove into her... we've been looking at selling it anyway, but writing it off wasn't the getting rid method i had in mind

How did your test drive go?

Very impressed. Admittedly, there was only 2 - 3 inches, but it was on the moorland so steep hills and drifts. It didn't put a wheel wrong and inspired confidence in the car's capabilities. I went off the road and climbed back on with no problems at all. Good fun :D

Awesome, I wish I was where you are, there's not much snow in leicester

It'll be gone by this evening, the rain is going to clear it away. :(

You can't go more than thirty foot off the road either, but it was enough to let me have a play and test things out. :D

The army were up there live firing too, which limited the potential for exploring

Got my rear right cv axle just now will fit Saturday and also trying to change my ird oil. Come help me on my thread please

Fitted the cubby/arm rest from an '01 V6 to my FL1 - had to make 2 metal brackets for the rear of the box and modify the handbrake cable clamp.

Extending the window switch wiring was time consuming!

Fitted a new distributor cap, rotor and coil lead & plug leads. Feels like it goes better! Or is that wishful thinking?
