Started the fitting of my light pods...... Those Land Rover instructions aren't the best but just about Sussed it.....

Just got to do. The fiddling with the multi plug on back of fuse board and then try to thread the wires down to meet the lights

It got a bit cold so I gave up for today !!

Replaced the auxiliary tensioner as the original one was toast, then changed oils on the IRD (75/90) and rear diff (80/90). Using a small hand pump and some aquarium hose it took bloody ages to get the rear diff drained - it was minging too.

Also put some spring assisters in at the rear, as back end tend to bounce down and ground a bit more readily than the front does.

I've got a Pela Pump but it doesn't like working on its side. If I had enough clearance (Ramps or pit) I could have done it in about 3 minutes. Modifying the barn to include ramps is on the agenda.....
 
Am I seeing knobbly tyres on the rear and road tyres on the front?

I hope its two wheel drive. If not, it soon will be. The expensive way.
 
Cleaned the upholstery with a sucky upholstery thingy. Surprising just how much muck came out!
 
Normally, I'd use the Freelander to move the boat around the property, but at the moment I've laid it up waiting on cam belt tensioner to arrive.

But, today was one of those days when I was going to tidy up the garage... regardless. So, with temps up in the 20's, today I have....

1) Pushed the Freelander and SIII SSW from in front of the garage to the gate next to it.
2) Pulled the boat out of the garage and down the drive a bit.
3) Pushed the 2 Landies back in front of the garage.
4) Pushed the boat down the side of the garage and over uneven ground and tree stumps to the side of the house.
5) Pushed the Landies back in front of the gate.

Fecking knackered.
 
A spot of green laning. :)

Went for some gentle green laning and ended up running some heavily rutted, muddy and fairly extreme lanes - both the FL and RR did a fantastic job. FL could have done with a bit of a lift in some of the ruts but if you just ignore the scraping sounds it's fine.... :)

Some of the poorest surfaces can only have been caused by heavy use of the lanes in bad weather, I won't mention the lanes because of this but maybe this shows the increasing interest in laining and lack of lanes these days. I hope to visit them again in the summer when things dry out a little.

Didn't get the pics of the worst bits as couldn't really stop but that said a super day for all the family!

:mad:Fallen out with it completely:mad: Started doing a little job - changing reversing sensor. I then noticed the back hanger had broken off the back box so did a temporary repair. New back box required. Whilst I was underneath I checked the diff mountings and noticed one looked like it had been rubbing a bit. What would cause that:confused: So I checked VCU - absolutely solid :eek: Took prop off. Looks like an expensive week.:(
 
Oh dear - if you go investigating, you will find things :)

When you say the VCU is absolutely solid - how did you check it? If you just try and turn things by hand I'm sure a working VCU will appear siezed. Did you put a bar and weight on a raised rear wheel?
