The speed the wind was blowing could have made those quite nasty missiles.
Indeed they could. A majority ended up in the field across the road, some 60 yards from where they started, a couple landing like knives in the ground.

The front of my house is top right, the slates, came from the back roof, so the flew a long way, some also fell short, landing on the wife's VW Eos, which she's not happy about.

Would the house insurance cover damage to cars?

Would the house insurance cover damage to cars?
We were musing over this today whilst the RAC man was unloading my car. My thoughts are that the owner of the damaged car would need to go through their own insurance, who would in turn seek the costs from the property insurers, but I'm not certain on that.

That makes sense, insurance companies love to share costs. I once tried to claim for stolen items from from holiday insurance and they wanted the details of my home contents insurance.
I'd have ended up having claims from both types of insurance.

I presume it's all about bean counters minimising their exposure to risk/liability

Not according to my house insurance. Apparently the car damage needs to be sorted by the car insurance, but that's not to say they won't want to pass on some of the claims value to my house insurance.
I'm just hoping that the next blow doesn't do more damage, before the insurance assessors come to visit in the next 7 days.

With your expertise you could swap the engine in the real thing in 3 hrs !!!
That's a bit of an exaggeration Andy.:D In times gone by, I could have an Avenger engine on the floor in 3 hours, but I'm older and wiser these days, so take my time on that sort of thing. ;)

Yesterday I started building a Land Rover, which was a Christmas present from my wife.:D
This stage represents over 3 hours work, so it's going to take some time to make it look like the picture on the box.

My sister bought me the same one at Christmas. It certainly took a few hours! Also, I have a problem with the synchromesh in high range. Can anyone point in the direction of things to check?

*edit* it was the christmas before last. Time flies

Today I finally got round to fitting some shiny black wing vents.
I think they look much more moden, than the silver effect factory vents.

Nice. Time for a spoiler and some LR roof rails now.
I'm going to need the weather to warm up a bit, as the rear spoiler is stuck on with 3M adhesive tape, which needs to be applied at +15°C or more.

The replacement facelift boot handle is next on my list of improvements, but as I need to drill holes in the body, I'll need a warmer and dry day, so I can paint the drilled holes to avoid rust.

I'd like roof rails, but I've read that none OE are pretty poor quality, and OE are silly expensive. :(

Changed the ATF, well about half of it. What came out was fairly brown, but didn't smell burnt.
Can't believe the LR interval is 150k
Mines done 63k and it definitely benefitted.
Iirc the interval for the FL1's Jatco is 60k.

Yes, 60k miles is the recomended oil change interval on the FL1 jatco auto. A partual change is all that's needed. The oil will go slightly brown with use. As long as its not dark brown or smelling burnt, yer should be ok.
