Interesting that the shocks being out could be detected on the steering wheel.
I believe it was due to the gas pressure failure in the shock. The seems to have altered the ride height at the LH wheel by about 10mm, which was obviously upsetting the suspension geometry. The steering is definitely straight now, and the vehicle feels much more planted to the road, without the slight oversteer it had when turning right.
The vibration has gone too, which I'm sure is down to the broken mass damper on the RH strut.

Looking forward to the video Nodge.
I'll try and piece something together Ali. It seems the battery died, before I finished recording (my own fault for not checking it), but I'll see what I can cobble together out of the footage I have.

Took it to the MOT, and got a clean pass. :)
The smoke test had a massive improvement too, going from 1.49 last year, to a much better 0.61 this year, which suggests the old botched repair on the head, was definitely upsetting things.
The car seems to be driving beautifully too, except for the annoying thumping from the back, every time the Haldex engages.:(

Well done on the MOT John!
Good luck with the "thump". I'm interested to know what the issue is there.

I'm guessing it has something to do with gear oil being used in Haldex, which has probably damaged the clutch plates.
I'm going to see if a fluid and filter change helps, but I suspect the clutch pack will need to rebuild.

Fitted an XTRONS unit

Found a cup holder! for the equivallant of £12.5 Was difficult to find but eventually got one. Also not exactly done today but since we bought it 3 months ago: Fitted black air vents, roof bars, new turbo core, new clutch, new top gasket, 2 new tyres, new cambelt/tensioner, facelift centre console + 6 disc cd player, fan speed resistor, new leather gear gaitor, replaced aftermarket lift pump with new primer bulb, new oil in gearbox and IRD, air filter. Been busy!!

Sounds like you have been busy!

And a thing of beauty, pressing the cup holder button and watching it magically open up. Apart from loosing the flat space as others have said. These must have been early in the evolution of cup holders, as the only downside I find with mine is that it struggles a bit to deal with the larger cups, which can become a bit top-heavy in it. But still a nice addition and useful to have. Especially if it came with the even rarer rubber surround that tucks around the instrument binnacle.

Cup holder, what cup holder? I've got 2 cup spaces in the centre console, by the handbrake, but I'd like a couple more, especially pop out one's. Where do they go?, as there's no space in mine.
I'm I thinking this is for a FL1, and not the FL2? :(

nudge bar all the light guards etc.

I'm after the nudge bar for my FL2, but they're silly expensive, and having just spent £500 on it in MOT stuff, DRL/fogs, a facelift boot handle, and rear spoiler, I don't think the wife will let me spent any more just yet, besides I've the thumping Haldex to fix first. :(

Had a new message on the dash pop up this morning, while dropping the daughter off at school.

Looking like I'll be pulling the steering lock apart, as it must be a sensor fault, the car starts just fine.

Why didn't LR just fit a key lock, like in the D3?

Sent mine off to the bodyshop today to have some dents and scrapes seen to. (ran over a temporary road sign, in the dark, in the pissing rain, in nose-to-tail traffic)

Sorry to hear that. It's a pain when stuff like that happens. I nudged a green fence at work (I'm a school site manager), which has put an annoying but small impression in the front bumper. :(
Someone also keyed the RH rear door a couple of months ago:mad:, which I'm going need to attend too later this year.
