You can't show off black LR badges and not say from whence they came. ;)

where did you get these from? Are they gel overlays or?

I've started something here haven't I :p

First thing's first, yes; two of them are "gel overlays" but I didn't treat them as such. It seemed no true badge in 70mm x 3(5?)mm existed in black on silver so this is what I had to go with but it doesn't look any lesser than the rest. When I got down to these ones I heated up the green/gold with a hairdryer and then attacked with a screwdriver to free them. Enter the gel ovals - I had to go around them a little with a pair of scissors and whittle tiny shavings off the edges to get them to sit within the C pillar badge retainers. You could treat them as overlays if so inclined but that's how I did it.

Next up, front grille and boot door handle. Would you believe they're the same size? In fact if you're eagle eyed you'll notice that Powerful lists the same item for each. This is the 81mm badge and unlike the gel you need simply prise off the old one, give the surface a good scrub until it's flat and clean of any existing adhesive from the old ones. Powerful also supply you an alcohol wipe to clean off the area as well, so I'd recommend a sunny day so that it dries quickly.

And lastly the steering wheel. If you're unfamiliar with the steering wheel badge; it's held together with six claws that prevent it from leaving a <LAND ROVER> ovular shaped dent in your forehead if the airbag goes off. I'm yet to find a replacement badge in that style so in this case I bought the badge and in this instance actually used it as an overlay. Just sit it over the green and it's acceptable.

Looks very executive or so I think

Unrelated:
Hi @kernowsvenski , I think I bought a part off you yesterday that you've since relisted - just wondering if you'd spotted that I bought it? Ta!
Edit: Thanks very much, looking forward to having it on!

On my way back nobody was with the car, so stopped and had a look over it. The car (monocoque) looked real good, no signs of a major impact, but windscreen shattered in 3 places, airbags deployed and the front number plate was out of alignment and all the letters/numbers had been smudged/rubbed off. It had obviously hit another vehicle pretty hard, dunno if the screen was of something impacting it or the stresses through the body.

Shame, that. Might sound callous but it's nice to see they can take a fair wallop. However, it's abandonment suggests the driver/occupants had a trip to the emergency room. It looks drivable. No coolant puddle?

Been windy in the valleys so stuff all over the tree-lined lanes. A vehicle in front of us kicked up a 1½ inch diameter stick t'other day and it took a direct line to my face! I was convinced it would break the windscreen as I watched in slow motion. Thankfully not. The FL1 is much tougher than most give it credit for.

Dropped Mrs Grumpy off at court this morning (jury service). Most journeys into/around town we won't see a Freelander, especially an F1 and especially a 3 door F1 - most over here are V6 or TD4 5 doors.

Anyway, today as I'm approaching the lights at the biggest intersection on the journey, there's a 3 door F1 parked up on the other side of the road. Looked in decent nick, but then spotted the cop car parked behind it, hub cap from another car lying by it and a few other bits of wreckage!

Hope everyone was OK, but 1 less Freelander on the roads here :( I did a stalk on it and its a 2002 1.8 ES imported from the UK in 2004.

That's just a minor knock, which probably only just deployed the airbags.

I'm thinking those screen cracks are from an angry car driver, as there're very random on the screen, and too small for the LH airbag impact mark.

I was wondering whether to put a note on the windscreen asking if they wanted to sell it. But I wouldn't want it if it wasn't 'straight' - or very very cheap!

The windscreen will cost money to sort and its running mismatched tyres so they alone will cost a fair amount to sort out.

Do you know if I can just take the airbags off my parts car and use them on a car that's had the bags deployed? Is there anything in the 'systems' that flags the deployment that would light the SRS light or stop them being functional? I could swap over the ECUs from my 2001 K Series parts car if needed as I have 2 sets of keys/fobs for that - but its a 5 door and they might get confused!

took the hippo into 'national tyres' to have the front end tracking checked.

t'was a recent high speed steering wobble ..
( sort of alarming .. )
that had never happened prior some recent suspension ( frnt n.s. ) work
and i strongly suspect the tracking hadn't been checked after said work ..

one guy worked on it for about an hour+ .. one bolt could not be moved
despite heating it up ..
i asked them to check the tracking anyway .. wanting to know IF it were the wobbles reason
so another half hour's work .. then showed me the tracking data on their machine screen ..
yeah .. tracking quite a bit out ..

no £ charge at all for that time :)

I just went back and had a closer look.

While the door gaps all look good, both front wings have popped away where they meet up with the windscreen pillars. Passenger side but 1/4 of an inch but drivers side is sitting over an inch away from the pillar.

Not a good sign. Didn't leave a note!

I'd imagine that the airbags will be the same? You shouldn't need to change the keys etc.

Whether the front chassis rails need straightening is another question - it can be done: just whether you're prepared to take it on!

You can swap the airbags and the SRS module, as the system has been deployed. It's just a straight forward swap out though. ;)

Changed an injector today. Went silky smooth by the hand no special tools or effort, however I did sprinkle some wd40 yesterday. Just out of curiousity I did try to remove injector 3 (no wd40) and would not even move. So that's the secret.

Out of interest, how many miles have they taken you?

Edit: The old ones I mean.
I will reply after taking some measurements when and if I change them all at the weekend. May not need front discs but I bought them anyway as they will be needed next time instead if not now.

Thanks Hippo. Appreciated ;)

Firstly a very big thank you to @kernowsvenski who sourced me a rear ashtray assembly, replacing an otherwise blank panel

I've flipped the sunroof switch upside down so that when I press "up" the sunroof will go up, instead of "closing"

And being an egalitarian I noticed everyone had grab handles - except me. Now everyone is even!

Ashtray panel much nicer than that blanking panel! :D

I was thinking of fitting a driver's grab handle too - is it the same as the front passenger one?

It is

I've been meaning to fit a grab handle to the driver's side too. All grab handles are the same.
I'd agree but the rear ones tend to have little plastic hooks attached which the front don't. As good as extra utility is I'd go for the pure front grab handle as to not tempt fate and obstruct your vision by hanging something on it, but personal preference will tell you what to do
