Picked up the second front seat today. Pricing for both, including some mechanical work, was more than reasonable. And they look pretty neat, next to each other, if ask me! IMG_20200820_192238.jpg

silly question, do I need to do the viscous coupling up tight, given the thread is opposite to engine rotation, surely it will tighten itself up?
 
Had to buy a new batter charger, the old one turned on, but wouldn't pick a mode... got this, £20 not too shabby

I had an Aldi one Ultimate Speed, see how this one goes, has a lot more features like pulse etc
 
As long as when the engine stops the fan doesn't have enough momentum to unscrew itself.:eek:
I've never had that happen after refitting several. At a guess a shade over 100 over the last 5 years. The fan stops almost immediately on shutdown and the amount of shock from starting is enough that even if it did dislodge a teeeny bit, it'll tighten itself back up again. But I have never experienced a VC spinning itself off. Not saying it could never happen, but it seems highly improbable.

Remember it happened to a guy with a Sierra And it cost him a radiator.

For it to spin enough to unscrew itself I'd imagine the VC was shot anyway. Spin a healthy one by hand a few times and it'll quickly bind. Even on a stone cold day, a running engine shut off will have put enough heat through the VC it won't spin enough to unscrew.

But without being there at the time this is just guessing.

He was a very unhappy bunny when he brought the rad to show me when returning the vc spanner. Got it recored for him.

Tighten the bugger, I did that with mine and it unscrewed when it was in full lockup and spun off the barsted thread when I'd stopped the engine... :mad:
