Last week I finally got round to swapping out, sorry about the americanism, the TC on my l322 Rangey. Easy enough being I have an hgv pit too work in. I decided to invest in a pit jack for the gearbox removal and so glad i did, by heck that ZF6 hp28 is a hefty bit of kit, not like my old Ford Angle box gear box I used to take out on occasion in the 70s. Smashin job and now drives a dream, took her for a 400 mile spin to pick up the grand kids for a week 1/2 term break with grand pa. Then it happened, went into limp mode a mile from home. Oh well that's the nature of the beast, cure one problem then wait for the next, even so I love the car and wouldn't swap her for the world.

What's the practicalities of using exhaust wrap instead of regular heat shields on the v8, anyone done it? Wondering if there's room for doing the manifold bolts up if the pipes are thicker with the added wrap

A few on here have binned the heat shields and used the rap with stainless ties.

So, early start today as after being away for six months arrived home yesterday and needed to get the beast out today. Checked all the fluids and a quick visual inspection, right hand front a bit soft but no issue. Battery on Turned the key and as always first crank away it went that lovely V8 growling into action. Left the door and tailgate open while I got out the compressor and put some air in the tyre and then topped off the rest. Now the time for truth, closed the tail gate and hit the wade height level on the suspension leaving the window open closed the door and stood back to watch that beauty of motion lift straight up and off the axel stands to full height perfectly. Big smile on face climbed in reset all the widows and sunroof drove to the nearest fuel station and topped off the tank with 82 litres of 95 for the princely sum of £31 so drove off from the with an even bigger smile. Oh the joys of owning a V8 in Russia.
awesome. but really! those gas prices! **** me no wonder we have climate change!

Great drive for the grandkids and limp mode excitement thrown in, it’s what my family have come to expect on a day out. We’re now at the time of year to take hats, coats, food and drinks even on the shortest trips because with a Range that’s all part of the journey. Recovery membership fully paid up.
Tricky :)

Fitted my new " HAWKE " bespoke made Stainless Steel exhaust tail pipes to my L405 Turbo Diesel today. Bought them off ebay from a company called supertweaks. The quality is awesome and they are bespoke made for a 100% fit. Cost was only £162.00 delivered via UPS and they have lots of pairs in stock ready to post out. For a small extra charge they also do Black tips.
I have been toying for months about upgrading my rear end to the later 2018 model which had pronounced exhaust exit tails but the costs was huge so i stumbled on these beauties and i am glad i did as have saved a fortune.
If you want to upgrade your L405 or other model Rangies with a pair of these then look at their shop on ebay as they also do them for other model Range Rovers.

Took me 10 mins to fit them both and they also have a security strap welded on and a U clamp which bites on to it so they cannot fall off if the allen key bolts worked loose albeit they do bite up tight so no chance of it happening. Really pleased with them.
