My point was, if it is not a vehicle produced by the LR company then it should not be entertained as being put on LZIR.

Cheers

What if my Land Rover was off the road and I was fetching parts in the wife's motor (not a green oval) and something happened to that motor, would that preclude me from asking for help?

That is what the point of this discussion is about. If you are a member on here then that may mean yes you would get support if not in a LR product. BUT if you are new just signed up member then I would have to think IMO it would mean no.

It would potentially help stop abuse of it as a free "rescue" for chancers.

Cheers

If you're happy to go and help, whatever information is or isn't available then it's your choice.

If when you get there and it ain't what it seemed or it's straightforward or it's a bit dodgy or it's completely FUBAR, if you proceed it's your choice.

If you don't feel confident/competent or it's just too risky, it's your responsibility to back out.

The risk assessment starts when you're reading the info available on here and continues dynamically until the situations resolved or not attempted. Your choice.

Interesting question would be how did the stuckee, find LZ? As they are driving a sukiyaki ?

Did they just search for free rescue services? Are they an old LZ member? do they own a LR product which is how they knew of LZIR?

Cheers
Good point that

I'd like to think that applied to us poor buggers who are not LR owners at present ...

A huge issue here is the OP's original request. The impression given was that this would be an easy rescue on good terrain. Had I seen the post originally i'd have offered to help.

Whilst a photo might not always be practical due to mobile signal, in this case it would have allowed LZIR members to make up their mind as to whether it was a safe job to attempt. As might an honest description.

LZIR does an excellent job, and I would still happily turn out to assist. However, i would be very unimpressed if i turned up to a situation and it was not as described.

How we make this work I dont know. There will always be an element of risk, and that is something that people willing to respond have to make up their own minds about.

Reading through this lot it looks like he got stuck Christmas day as that was mentioned and that the crv would stay there another night was also mentioned , and now transpires no insurance, LZIR was defiantly being used as a free recovery service which is not right,
it seam`s all the full info was not forthcoming at the start, if it had been a different line of approach may have been taken.

Hat`s off to the guys that went out.

Yes and maybe ... being in Lunnen precludes some LR products ... that and the insurance premium ...
I currently have a keeper 300tdi discovery, a doer upper 300tdi discovery and a 2a 88" in bits waiting for me to stop playing with discoverys
